Colin, how old are you?  Are you even 18 yet?
Turned 18 on the 14th of June.
Well shit! Another quitter smarter than me. I am glad for you that you see the scam and lies of tobacco so early. I have a daughter your age. (Yes she is cute) Anyway, my kids are smarter than me too.

I told my son, "You may win in intelligence but I win in experience." So here is the scoop.

KTC will help you quit. The vets will not lead you astray. You do what they tell you to do with exactness and you will not fail. If you think you are smarter than them, you are at risk for a cave. The plan is simple and effective.

Know that you are an addict. Addicted minds can never be quit forever. If you think long term about quitting nicotine, your battles to keep from caving will be difficult. So you have to trick your addicted mind. Its only fair. Addicted minds trick us all the time. You will have addicted thoughts of just one wont hurt. That's a lie. Just one is devastating!

So never think about being quit past today. All you need to do is be quit today. If you wake up tomorrow, then you quit tomorrow but you don't think about tomorrow until it is tomorrow. That keeps your addiction in check and it isn't a feeling of impossible it is an understanding that you can fight any urge for one day.

So you need to be accountable to someone besides yourself. As man of our words, we can excuse promises to ourselves but when you promise someone else, well you can't excuse that pledge. So that is what posting roll means. You make a promise to us to quit for the day.

Post roll, Keep your word for the day.
Get numbers so that when the cravings are tough, you must call a brother for permission to cave. You can not cave until you talk to a quit brother and get permission.
Read, Read, Read and gain knowledge about your enemy. HATE ALL things related to Nicotine. You now are at war.

If tomorrow comes, repeat. As each day goes by, your quit will have phases. Some days will be a piece of cake, others will bring you to the brink. However each battle, each day you stay quit, your resolve, ability and desire to quit will grown and become stronger. The craving's grip on you will weaken and you will have this feeling of triumph and freedom from your vice.

It is a thrill to quit. I wish I was as smart as you at 18. I had to wait 21 years to get to the stage where I wanted to quit. Glad I did.

Best of luck to you. Just post roll everyday. Never miss. That is the x factor of your quit. That daily promise is so vital. Read, look at the spreadsheets and see the pattern of true quitters are that they post everyday.

Welcome aboard! We are the craziest group of misfits but you will love us too. We all play a role in saving lives.

Day 9 - But new to the site
« on: June 18, 2012, 01:27:00 AM »
Hey everyone, my name's Colin.

It's been 9 days since I've packed a lip, and my god, has it been 9 of the hardest days of my life. I started dipping around 10th grade in high school, back when I was 15-16. I didn't dip that much; a can of Skoal Apple blend would last about a month to a month and a half for me. Being a varsity soccer player, me and a bunch of my team mates would dip together frequently. We thought we were pretty badass cause of it. I dipped heavily throughout August-October of my junior year, due to stress of playing in a highly competitive division for high school soccer. Around 1.5-2 cans a week. I quit over the summer and into my senior year because I was all about being a better player. My hard work paid off: I was All-Conference 1st team goalkeeper in one of the most competitive divisions in Pennsylvania. I started dipping, and smoking (essentially only when I would drink) senior year. I dipped daily my last month of high school.

I graduated from high school last Thursday, and have decided that it is time for a change in my life. I stopped all tobacco usage the day of my graduation. I plan on running to the local Smoker's Express store and grabbing several cans of Bacc Off in the morning, now that I have read about it online. However, having the support of a large community is something that I'm sure will really help me.

You guys are gonna see more of me soon.
