It's not easy, it's hell, my quit has been real hell. But I too work in a job that requires professionalism and dipping is looked down upon. And I too was tired of it. But quit for you man, not a job, family member, nothing but you. Quit one day at a time. Post roll and keep your word. I will quit with you man!
I would rather lose to a cheater than win as a cheater.

Welcome Jam,

You'll quit when you decide to do it. Nobody can do it for you. There are no short-cuts or secrets. You can't use landing a job as motivation...because what happens to your quit if you lose it? This has to be about you.

Hoping for help is bullshit. You get our support when you post roll each day...and without asking. How about turning into a mean son of a bitch toward the Nic Bitch? How about you get so fucking mean that you would sooner rip your own fucking lip off your face than pollute it with that shit again?

It's your decision.  I'm pumped you're here. Now focus your energy. Your attitude will determine your success. Post roll, keep your word and read all you can on this site. YOU GOT THIS, BROTHER!

Just graduated from a good college. Still living at home w parents. I'm 23. I think dipping has already fucked me over. Started at 14 playing lax. About a can a day for 6 years. Last summer I had a great internship with a consulting firm in NYC. My boss was British. To her my "coffee cup" was the ultimate sign of white trash, backwoods scumbaggery. Dipping to upper management seems 1 half-step away from coitus with blood relatives.

My work quality was excellent, and I know that I make friends easily. I'm sure the reason that I didn't get the job was the "sneaky" diggers. This summer I got an internship with a good pharmaceutical company in Finance. I'm determined to kick this and excel in life, land this job and kick ass, but when I don't have one I'm a real mean son of a bitch. Hope all of you can help.

Welcome, Jamarcus! This site will give you lots of support and motivation to stay quit. But you have to take the first step. Flush all your dip down the toilet, NOT the garbage where you can dig it out in a moment of weakness. Then post roll with the September 2013 group. (This is when you'll hit 100 days, so that is your group) which is your promise to stay nicotine-free for that whole day. Then do the same thing the next morning, and keep repeating, one day at a time.

Read all the information on this site as you go thru the first several days of quitting, it will educate you as well as provide a distraction from the withdrawal symptoms. Get in your group forum (september 2013) and meet your classmates, and also use the Live Chat, you will meet alot of people in there.

Yes, I was a mean SOB when I first quit, too. its part of quitting. But you can come here and take that out on us rather than your loved ones.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Rick

Welcome, Jamarcus. It's awesome you're here and welcome to the September 13 quit group. I will be posting with you everyday!

We all need a catalyst...that thing that happens when we finally say, "Fuck this, I'm not going to be a slave to dip anymore." Yours seems to be not getting a job and the desire to get a good job. My only concern would be what happens if you don't get that great job right away? Or what happens if you do? This quit is about being free from all of the shit that comes with dipping: worrying about cancer everyday, about when the next dip will be, who to hide it from, and a million other things. Other good things will come along because of quitting: maybe a job, a nice hottie, HEALTH, etc, but don't base your quit or the success of your quit on something like landing a job. It can be a part of the whole picture, but remember all of the other reasons you want to quit, too, and how much you gain as a free man, job or no job.

I'm not saying you're only focusing on the potential job thing, but after reading your post it seemed like a major focus. Looking forward to quitting with you, Jamarcus!
