Hey bro. If I can do it, anyone can. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. It ok to stand still. But just don't take a step back. One day at a time. And together. That's how we do it here. Welcome to KTC and proud to be quit with you.

Thank you to all, @pinched yes I have been a medic for 13 yrs and was in the Army prior to this.
I have read a lot of what people have written on here and I know now that I am not alone in the battle. I have seen my dad go through throat ca 2 years ago and he beat it but it was a walk I care not to take have put off quitting until to day.
Well damn glad you found us. Have a seat, drink a tall glass of the KTC Kool-Aide and learn from all these experienced folks that have quit.

Glad to see another of many soldiers in here. Welcome brother.

Medic,
I am assuming by the name that you are a paramedic, EMT or PJ; you know what it means to carry a bag full of tools of the trade. Rick gave you good advice I would add to carry those tools with you in your QUIT bag every damn day. Nicotine can jump up and bit you when you least expect it, so expect it all the time and prepare for it.

Welcome to KTC,

Welcome medic! did you flush all your stashes down the toilet? Make sure you do, they are too big of a temptation during a bad crave, if they are just sitting in the garbage can.

This is a great site to find advice and support for you quit. Start with the pink "WELCOME CENTER" link near the top left of the page, and learn how the program works, and how to post roll. Then go post roll in the January 2014 group.

Explore this whole website, you'll find some great resources and tips, as well as alot of motivational material, and what to expect during the first few days of your quit. They are not easy, but they are worth going thru to reclaim your freedom from this addiction!

Drink alot of water for the next several days, and stock up on hard candy, sunflower seeds, and fake/herbal chew. They will help you with the oral fixation part of the addiction - however there is nothing to help with the nicotine withdrawals, you just have to go thru them.

We're all with you in your quit - ask any questions you have here.

Rick
