I also have found that exercising, or speeding time in gym helped me in the past. Stress killer

Hello Sweeper, and welcome to KTC!

Fellow Stone Cold Quitter here, it's great to have you on board! As most people have said, this is a very important decision in life. Please don't quit just for an insurance test (still a good reason, ha). Quit because you want to, and because you know what is good for you. Your hardest days will be the next few.

We're all here to help you Sweeper. Make sure you post roll every day and hold yourself accountable. When that insurance test is complete, you better stay quit after that! We expect that out of you.

You can do this. If you find yourself struggling, read every damn article on this site you possibly can. There is more than enough fuel here to kick the nic bitch. When you get sick of reading, post to your fellow STQ's of November and we'll be there to pick you up.

If that isn't enough, you get digits. You get lots of digits and call call call call.

Happy to be quit with you today brother! Quit on!

Welcome Sweeper. Utilize the site I encourage you to go read in the Hall of Fame and in the Hall of Legends. Learn from these guys and don't be stubborn. We are all here to quit and sometimes need a kick in the ass from Diesel to get us into gear and switch our thinking from reasons like insurance to quit to quitting to quit because quitting is winning when it comes to this. We are addicts so we must be on guard. Once you understand that you are an addict you will be able to fully take control of your quit and make it last. Post roll every day and get involved with your quit group. Congratulations on making the choice to quit even if for now it's so you pass an insurance exam but I hope that your thinking will change because it should be to better your life. Living without tobacco is the most rewarding thing that I have done and you can experience it to if you'll truly utilize the site
The Copenhagen can will no longer control this man because being a quitter means becoming a winner

Thanks for the support. I have to recently gone to the dentist and have had some teeth problems so that is just another reason to quit. I really do appreciate the feedback and I want to be done with this habit. I did order some of the Jake's Mint Chew because it sounds like it helps when all i want is something between my cheek and gum. I'm keeping busy and drinking lots of water and reading a bunch off the site. It's awesome to hear everyones story and then the cravings just disappear because other people are in it with us. Great site, great support.
Not to be a dick here but keep in mind that it is an addiction not a habit.

100% agree, do not make the insurance results #1 (although I sense it is not, in reality). Good advice so far, heed it! Welcome to the site, dig your heels in and QUIT.

BTW, for someone who stated "I'm not a computer savvy guy" ... you nailed Roll call! That, my friend is impressive ... now do it again tomorrow! Just concentrate on one day, post roll and promise you're quit from all forms of nicotine, then HONOR that promise. Roll call is A1 number one! Be on it ... stay on it.

FYI ... from a blood-test perspective I'm unsure, but rumors (facts?) are that nicotine is pretty much out of your system within 72 hours or so.
Sweeper, please heed what these fine gentleman are saying, because I concur as well. When we see "I am quitting for insurance reasons", we read " I am quitting for 3 weeks so my rates don't triple ". Show us that this quit is the last quit you will ever make.

Usually the people who quit for insurance exams don't stay quit. Make sure you're quitting for you.
Totally agree with this. I stopped dipping for 30 days to test cleanly for a life insurance policy then went right back to dipping. If you want to quit...and stay quit, you have to decide if you are sick of pulling the yoke that is nicotine, sick of the costs, sick of the health risks, sick of the hiding and lying, sick of being out of control. The next 19 days are going to be the worst 19 days, so Sweeper if you can make it that far...make it stick. Good luck!
But it can be done. You have to get your head right Sweeper. Lighty7 is in August. He quit due to a sore mouth and a dentist visit. Post visit when he got the all clear, just need a root canal he could have gone back to dipping but has stuck with it and believe he around 90 days now.

Don't toss the 19 days and get back on the nic wagon. Those are by far the worst days. Why do it twice?

Nicotine is out of your body after 4 days. It is in your head for much longer. There is not conclusive evidence that indicates all traces of tobacco usage are out of your system until X days.

As has been pointed out, quit 100% for you and you alone. Regardless of all the other bright spots that will appear let those be bonuses, not a reason. I highly doubt that your wife, kids or the kids you teach made you dip, you were the one who did that. Once you quit for you, the realization of addiction and how bad you want it is what will drive you daily.

These next few days are going to suck for you but get through them and life begins to get better over time. Drink plenty of water the first 5 days. Then drink more water. Helps flush the system. Get you some oral fix solution like jerky, gum, hard candy, toothpicks, fake. Get small if you need to. Make it through an hour at the time. If your head starts racing for a nic fix, get down and do 50 pushups. Or situps. Or run 5 miles. Whatever it takes no nic.

Insurance exam. If you stay quit and test positive, you can always say that is BS, test me again. By that time it will be 30 days and you should be fine.

I found this site after searching for ways to quit the dip. I've been reading everyones story and they are all very inspiring. I've been a 1-2x a day dipper for 10 years (18-28yo). It all started in High school with high school sports and everyone trying to be cool. Now....being a phys. ed. teacher and high school soccer coach for the past 7 years i feel like it is time to quit. I've tried numerous times to no avail and really hope that i can do it this time. There are tons of reasons why i need to: for myself, because my wife hates it, i want to be around when my kids grow up, and the most important at this second in my life is i have a health insurance exam in 19 days and i don't want to test positive for nicotine so our rates won't go up!!!! (does anyone know if it'll be cleared out of my body in 19 days?!?!?!). But....i'm not a computer savvy guy and i've never joined a community in my life, but i thought that this was the best way to help myself quit. This is day 1.......
Glad you found us. Here is some homework. Read this. forum/55560/

Ask the gang here if you have any questions. We are happy to help. Nic should leave your body in about 3 days. Lets change your life, not pass a nic test. Focus on today and it will work it self out.
Welcome to the most important decision you can make. Stay close to the site, read and reach out for help. We are all in this battle together. I was a 30+ year user, so if this old fart can do it, so can you!
