Damn... Look at all of you guys. Seeing how passionate you are all is really a blessing. I appreciate all of the responses.

I've made it 2 days without ANY nicotine only one time. The way I did it was with the patches. I've tried cold turkey before and I had serious psychological side effects: panic attacks, racing thoughts, etc. etc.. When I used the patch system and finally ripped the last one off for two days I didn't have any of these side effects bc of the step system. Needless to say, I just wasn't mentally strong enough to stay quit.

This time, once I'm down to the last step, I'm quitting for good. I understand your lack of confidence of anything non-cold-turkey but this has worked for me once however so brief.

Ill be back with a true quit date; it's gonna be hell like last time but if I can lean on you guys I will do it. Ill be back.

Thanks for the motivation.

thanks so much, jake! it immediately feels better know i have support.

unfortunately, i am on the patch as we speak. i was going to use the step 2 all this week, then get back on step 3 (last step).

i feel like if i went cold turkey i would have a very, very hard time adjusting to my new job while couped up in an office all day. argh, these are just excuses, you know that. sorry, this is tough.
pitch the patch and ride the suck. you'll be over the worst of it a lot quicker.

I am 7 days in, and past the "physical" withdrawal.. Now all it is the head games.

I played the patch and gum several attempts before and all lead back to the can.

you will have 3-5 days of physical craving. As others have said using the patch isn't quitting.

Nicotine has to go, and in any form, it still keeps up it's slave.
Fact is we justify our actions with, my job, my wife, stress at work on ad naseum.

Get the fake stuff, use gum, anything to get you through those 1st 5 days.

I can see for the 1st time in 10 years I feel free. I maybe a little nuts but nuts is survivable. Cancer often times isn't..

Make a list of why you want to stop, and paste it on your forehead.
hey woahbot, Quit being a baby and quit giving your $$ to big tobacco...yeah, they make the patch, the gum and probably have cum if you're willing to pay for it....
You gotta rrrrrreeeeeeaaaaaaalllllllllllyyyyyyy want to "be quit" in order to "be quit"!!!! 'bang head'

Grow your biggest pair...man up...balls to the wall....check your mirror, meet the nic addict, have the talk, take control, flush all nic and nic related delivery methods...read the welcome center, jump into chat....learn how to really "Be Quit" like a madman!!!
40,000 quitters have gone before you to light the path....it is not easy, but it is worth it.
You can take your life back! I did it, YOU can TOO!!! 'zombie'
You can quit....ONE damn DAY at a time....

Whether nicotine dependency was established and/or maintained by being chewed, smoked, drank, snuffed, sprayed, swallowed, sucked, licked or patched, in the end there is only one way out - no nicotine today.

You can do this. We are the proof.
Don't believe all these quitters? Well my 2 cents, for 40 years I used every conceivable method of feeding my body nicotine. As long as you are putting nicotine into your body you are a slave! I'm still a addict but I'm no longer a slave. You can be free also, quit postponing the suck! There are no short cuts.

if you read through older posts you will see that yes quiting does make your junk work better... nicotine decreases blood flow to your periferals like limbs especially lower extremities...your dick is included in lower extremities. Good news is that my personal exp. my junk responded quickly to being off of the nicotine and I can now cut glass again.

But to check to see if this works for you you need to throw away that shit in the box the shit in the tin let your balls drop down and quit the nicotine. It will suck and like it or not you will have to learn to deal with it. New job or not life goes on and new excuses will come up like I cant quit right now because I am stressed that sky will fall tomorrow so I need to keep dipping...blah blah we are all addicts here we always will be.

READ READ READ learn establish bonds with people here you will not find the amount of caring anywhere. BUT YOU have to pitch the Bitch and quit we will all be here to help when you do it. PM me if you need my help.

A lot of good advice below. Go back in the intros probably page2 and go to my intro (day two) i believe is the subject and Erussell is the subject starter. Read it from the beginning. It will be a big help to you on the patch. Hope to see you in roll tomorrow. I will quit with you any day.

Nicotine in your patch came from the same plant as the shit in the can.

Nicotine in any form is cheating. We commit everyday to be free from nicotine. The only way this will work for you is to cut all ties. It will suck and you will hate life, but its the only way to get through it. If you don't hate ur addiction enough to quit right, then you will fail. Millions of dollars are made each year by companies that sell products to keep you hooked on nicotine. They all claim to help you quit tobbacco but the odds are it will cause you to use again.
Are you ready to quit? Or are you toying with the idea? If your ready, then go cold turkey. It's how we have all done it and it works. It only takes 3 days to purge the nicotine from your body. Then its all mental. If you use the patch it will take weeks or months. Get it over with. Pull the band aid off. It takes major balls to quit cold turkey. And you get a lot of pride after the nicotine leaves your blood. Cause You made it happen.

Woahbot you do realize that patches are just another delivery method of the drug you are addicted to? They do not help you master your addiction. They are just like giving beer to an alcoholic. If you are serious about beating your addiction to nicotine, then you must stop putting nicotine in your body. There is no other way to quit.

Yes this is tough. But only if you have not committed to really quitting. All you have to do is eliminate the option of using nicotine in any form, and the only possible outcome is being quit. It sucks, but it gets tons better.

Don't half ass this quit. Either do it, or don't do it.

Yup your right, those are just excuses. Mighty piss poor to boot. Throw the $100 worth of patches in the trash and post roll. Make a promise to yourself and this entire site full of people going through the same thing as you that you will not use nicotine in any form today. Just today....worry about tomorrow when it becomes today. You are worth it, we all are!

Hi guys. Brand new here!

So, Im quitting today for the 100th time. Im 26, just started a new job and ive been chewing tobacco since the 9th grade. During my previous quit attempts, i was on the patch -- the lowest one. I would def cheat though, by either putting on a second (or third) patch or chewing while on the patch. Basically, I havent been without nicotine in my system for many years.
Great choice bro. Best decision you have made since 9th grade. We are here to help in any way we can. I don't know about the sexual enhancment aspect. But I do know after awhile you'll feel better which I'd assume would help.

I have one big question? Are you quitting cold turkey or are you using the patch? Cold turkey is the only way to be successful. We addicts have to cut the NIC bitch out completely. The patch will just leave a back door open for you.

Your gonna feel like shit the next few days, but if you fight for your life, you will feel better! We will help. Go to the welcome center and post roll. It's our way of being accountable to each other. Read everything you can. P.m. me if you need anything.

Proud to be clean with you today!

Quitting and ED

My biggest question -- and, sadly, one of my most motivating factors to quit -- is whether or not my sexual performance will get a boost. Does anybody have a link or thread regarding this conversation? From the limited amount of info that Ive gathered, I should start hanging much lower and grow thicker and longer.

Any links? Any personal experience?

Thanks, guys.
