Definitely the nic bitch. She's hanging out in all your old haunts. What I did was change my patterns. Wife is out for a while? I went for a run instead of staying inside. Instead of going to a movie I would go some place where they have a TV...some place I couldn't dip...where I wouldn't want to dip. I kept changing it up. Kept putting my head in a mindset of doing different things and doing them without wanting a dip. Once I knew what that felt like I starting visiting my old haunts. My mind knew how to function without the nicotine and I was able to cope.

There is another point of view which I appreciate as well. Its a more bad ass approach. Engage in the fight rather than avoid it. Go to your old haunts with a game plan of fighting it. Its not so much that you want to see a movie but you want to fight the nic bitch if that makes sense. To me it sounds like visiting the old haunts is a test and each time you pass the test you get stronger.

I appreciate that methodology but I think if you have periods where your mind isn't engaged with craving or fighting the nic bitch, you are living as 'you', the person who is being overrun by the addict. That's the person you have to get to know again. That's the person you want to strengthen outside the fight of addiction.

Cowboy,

I am having the same issues at day 88, but it's improving. This is normal. For years and years we were putting this stimulant in our bodies and our bodies developed a natural sleep pattern despite the harm we were causing. The body adjusts. Now there is no drug so our bodies are forming new sleep patterns and apparently it takes time.

Here is what I am trying to do to reestablish my sleep patterns:

*I don't drink caffenine after 8 am (coffee in morning and that's it--I have cut back on coffee)
*I don't eat or drink a heavy supper and make sure supper is eaten 3 hours before bedtime
*excercise and workout at some point during the day for at least 30 to 40 minutes.
*I take the natural supplement melatonin before bed--5mg fast release.
* don't get out of bed at 4am when you wake up----keep staying in bed(even though you are awake) and rest until your time to get up.
*Have the same bedtime each night and wake up time (like I said even though you are wide awake--try to close your eyes and rest).

Hope this helps--it has helped me a little

When I was dipping..... went to bed around 11pm...woke at 5-6 am....

NOW....with no NIC....I go to bed about 11....wake about 2 am.....

Sometimes sleep longer, sometimes sleep less....anyone else experience anything like this?
Yes my friend. Very normal. Before I quit, bed at 11, up at 7. Now, it's bed at 10, up at 4. Today no different. I'm on day 59. I would rather be quit and deal with irregular sleep issues than be "normal" but committing suicide everyday by throwing lippers in.
when i first quit i slept about 2 on 2 off. for 4 or 5 weeks. It gets better, just enjoy the ride

You know when you used to go see a movie - how you'd smuggle in a something to spit in?  I was thinking about goint to a movie yesterday...then I thought - "would I even enjoy the movie" since I can't dip....what kind of stupid BS train of thought is that....
That's addict thinking, the nic bitch trying to get you to cave. You'll find that as you start living life nic free, life is infinitely superior without cancer weed in your lip.

For what it's worth, I still have the thought to horde plastic bottles for future spitters. I still perk up when someone says the word dip (usually talking about going swimming or the stuff you put on chips). I still get a rush of adrenaline if the wife is going to be out longer (more dip time in the past). It's normal, and it's okay as long as you recognize that you can't cave.
That indeed is the nic bitch filling your head with nonsense. It will pass. But I doubt it ever fully goes away. Case in point, I had a 16 oz Dr Pepper on my desk the other day. Went to grab it to take a swig, did a full stop to peer in side to make sure it wasn't a spitter. I haven't spit in a bottle in 306 days.

SEVENTEEN Thousand $$$
« on: July 24, 2011, 07:02:00 AM »
Well quit Wednesday, july 20 2011. You know I've quit a dozen times....you know...bought the nic candy/gum - which is what I did this time - or started to do. I found this site Wednesday afternoon....had one of my fake nicotine gum dips in and was talking to some folks on the live chat. They quickly informed me that using ANY nicotine substitute was cheating. Guys name was Chris - told me to spit that gum out, throw it away and quit with NO nicotine candy/gum/patch....

So I did. I've NEVER been able to do that - but thanks to some stranger on here I've been able to. Also - I've yet to figure out how to post roll - but I have been coming each morning to read the articles...
