Great choice, Sty! Sounds like you're on the right track. Click on the "Welcome Center" link at the top. (pink one)

One comment...you quit for 8 months then caved due to stress? Come up with an alternative way to handle stress and write it down right now...while you're thinking straight. You might also try to figure out what caused the stress. Let us know if we can help with that, too. We're not psychologists, but we'll give it shot.

Life is full of stress, and addicts are full of excuses...that's not a good combination, you know? I did the same thing you did. High school sports, college sports, law school, bar, life in a big law firm, new city, marriage, kids, family member passed away, etc...the list goes on and on. I made excuses to keep dipping for over 20 years.

Then one day I quit. I found this site while crawling up the walls, read a little, posted roll and began living nic-fee. And you're right, by the way...YOU CAN DO THIS.

Stay strong, brother!

Hey guys. I'm brand new to the site. I'm 28 years old and have been dipping for over a decade already. Decided it's time to be done with the shit. So tired of hiding spitters at work, waking up and seeing my spitter on my night stand sometimes half full of my own spit, leaving my spitter in the car so it can bake in the hot texas sun and smelling my car all up. Tired of bad breath, hiding my habit from everyone, and just basically being a slave to the addiction every minute I am not sleeping.

I've quit before. I quit in 2011 for 8 months cold turkey. Hit some stressful times, broke down, bought a can, and have been dipping more than ever since. That was about 9 months ago.

The addiction is hard for me too because on the weekends if I'm "socializing" and drinking alcohol, I really enjoy smoking during that time. In the past, If i've made some progress on quitting, the weekend will come up, Ill buy some smokes and the following morning Ill still have some left over. Ill smoke the rest of the pack and buy some more. Then because I'm an athlete, Ill switch back to dip. So in order for this to be successful, Im going to have to lay off the booze for a while too.

I know I can do it because I've done it before, although it hasnt lasted. I'm committed to making this quit be forever. I think the support of this site and support from people who can relate will be invaluable. So, any support is much, much appreciated.

Bring on the withdrawal. Im ready!

Thanks!
Sty,

Welcome man. Sounds like you are serious. I agree with you that laying off the booze would be a good idea. Read everyhting you can on this site. Go post roll in October if you haven't yet. Do not worry about quitting forever, we quit one day at a time around here. Wake up, post roll, keep your promise, repeat. Simple but difficult. Let me know if I can help, get to know your quit brothers....
