there is no hoping to quit here. there's no "if i fail" here. there's no tomorrow or forever here.

quit is something you do or don't do; there's no in between state of quit. you either dip and are a dipper, or you don't dip and are a quitter. it's that simple. what you have to do is 100% decide for yourself that you are quit, and then nothing that comes your way will have the power to change you. you'll be tempted, you'll be tried, and you'll have people trying to bring you back down to their level. but if you are QUIT, it's a fly bouncing off your windshield.

i could rub myself down with grizz mint and run naked through tobacco fields and not put that shit in my mouth. because i'm 100% quit. i posted roll today, and nothing can make me break my word to myself, my family, and my quit brothers and sister.

oh, and next time you want to have a lip of grizz, just let that mental image of me rubbing myself down with the tobacco in your fingers flash across your mind.

you're welcome for that.
That's some quit with conviction right there. That mans knows his enemy.

Hello, I am 23 year old male. I started dipping when I was 19 years old.  I dip about a tin a day of wintergreen grizzly... My triggers include almost anywhere that I am able to dip but mostly when I wake up, when I drive anywhere, after I eat, or I do about a half a tin before I go to bed each night. My reasons for quitting are simple 1. I do not want to get mouth cancer or anything else from dip 2. Its disgusting 3. It costs a fortune. I have been thinking about quitting for sometime now and I hope to do it cold turkey. Hopefully, this forum will provide me some support as I do not want my family to know the struggle in case I fail. I also am an assistant wrestling coach and work at a fitness club. I used to think it was funny and ironic that I was all about health besides dipping, then one day it just hit me that it was idiotic.Thank you. TheDreamingTree
Whoa whoa whoa.....Hold on there cupcake. We don't fail here! We quit! You have to change your attitude. You must post roll every day, and be true to your word! Read, read , read everything you can on this site. Get numbers. Make a plan. Stay quit. Welcome. radtech04
I second this motion.

And furthermore, fellow Dave fan, I highly advice that you DO tell your family you are Quitting. I don't give a flying monkey's nutsack if this would make 1,001st time you've put them through this. You need to spread your network of accountability through your "real" life as well, this is not a place to hide it. We SHOUT FROM THE F$#$ING ROOFTOPS "I AM QUIIIIIT BIAAATCH!".

And you weren't being idiotic, you were blinded by the nic-bitch. Remember, you don't like dipping. You don't like the feeling's you get when you DON'T dip. Nicotine only cures the problems that it creates. Read that again. Annnnd 1 more time. Soaked in yet? Good.

Now let's see that day 1 post, then you got me in your corner for good. Read the Welcome Center for all of the info you will need.

CC is right. Tell everyone you see you are quit. The more people that know the better off you are..

Yes your family is going to doubt you at first. Like the rest of us you have lied over and over again to feed your addiction. Let that fact soak in and you will see what you have been doing in a whole new light.

Now get into your quit group and post up. I am sending you some information to get you started.

Greg
Yup, that just about sums it up. Quit dreaming that it'll be OK here if you fail. There is no fail. There will, however, be a serious ass-chewing from pretty much everybody on this site.

The truth is that you're making some excuse about protecting your family from a struggle when, in actuality, you're protecting yourself from the embarrassment of failure. How do I know? I've been there. Many of us have been there. The first step is manning up and being honest about the fact that you're an addict. Then, you can ask for help. The more people that know what you're doing, the better. You can call it embarrassment, accountability, support, or whatever you want, but that is what will get you through many of the tough spots. Now, make the promise each day and then honor your word.

Telling everyone builds accountability bro. If your priority is to quit (which it is), it will only aid in your success. That's all. It will help you stay quit. So, if that's the goal, its a no brainer. Scream that shit out.

And if you were an idiot, we were all idiots. And I'm pretty sure MedStudent ain't no idiot so there you go...you're not an idiot either.

Glad you found your quit bro. Reach out if you need to.
