Day 15
Yesterday I had a rage moment that wasn't.
What I mean to say is that six months ago it would have been a rage moment when I was dipping yesterday it was just an annoying moment reminding me I am still in the fog.
I was cleaning out the bathroom sink, water was running, I had inadvertently closed the drain while wiping the bottom of the sink.
The door bell rings and I head out to see who is at the door, it was the Jehovah's Witnesses. I tried to explain that I was busy at the time but they keep on talking.
Finally they handed me a flyer and off they went to visit my neighbors, as I turned around from the front door I notice that the TX vs Baylor game was on the tv I sat down a watched for a bit, not because I cared one way or the other but because there was a replay of something and it caught my eye.
Then I heard it. Water. In the basement.
I ran down to the basement and found water dipping through the floor from the bathroom where I still had the water running into a closed sink.
I used every towel in the house as well as the shop vac for the next couple hours to try and clean it up, the carpet is still damp but I have the heat turned up and a fan blowing across it.
I felt the rage rise up and then though wait I must control the rage, the rage isn't going to undo my stupidity, it isn't going to clean the mess up any faster.
Maybe if I wasn't in my quit fog it wouldn't have happened. Not gonna stop me from quitting.
I like the fact I can actually stop a rage moment now.

Day 12 another headache, this one is different than the one yesterday might be a mild hangover headache since last night was bowling.
I was sitting at my work computer, just to the left of this one, when BLAMMO right out of the blue I had the worst craving since quitting.
Worse than the feeling I got when Alie offered me the roll at the Mobil the other day, my knees felt weak even with me sitting down.
Thankfully I caught my breath had the option of glancing right to this computer and see the Feb quitters roll call that was still open from when I called roll.
Disaster averted....without even reverting back to the tea dipping.

As for posting roll...my apologies to those I bumped I was sure it was safe when I did it.
Caught the fact I bumped three people and tried to edit my roll before someone could move on with the bumps but I was too slow :(
After that someone else will have to fix the bumps. Out of my jurisdiction LOL.

I was thinking last night at the bowling alley how I had made it 11 days nic free, 11 friggin days holy crap that is more than 10% of the way to HOF....holy crap only 10% to HOF :( even worse is that is only 1% to HOL :(
This was quite demoralizing.
Thankfully the only dipper who bowls on my league was out for shoulder surgery or the temptation would have had me reaching for digits.
After a while of wallowing in my despair a though occurred to me or maybe a memory of seeing something over and over in so many posts here. ODAAT....I get it now...I thought I got it before but now I am sure I get it.
You can't make it to day 100 (HOF) if you don't make it to tomorrow...unless today is day 99 of course.
No point in worrying about HOF HOL or even 14 at this point until it is today.
Today is day 12 I can deal with that

You've got it Avian. ODAAT. It circulates around here a lot, but it is a core principle. Even when you are in the Hall of Legends someday, you still can't quit any more than ODAAT. Glad for you that this victory came early in your quit. Share this with your group too, this is a big win and they can benefit from it!

Absolutely right it's ODAAT, but even to get to one day, there are times it has to be one minute (second) at a time. Figure out something you can do to get past that crave ( do 5 pushups, or 5 jumping jacks, say I love Bucky, say Bucky is gay, etc) whatever it is that you need to do, do it, then move on. Celebrate each time you beat that crave and when next one comes, beat the bitch down again. Sooner or later, that day will be over. As the days add up, the number of craves will decline.

Can't quit tobacco without quitting each day at a time.
