That is great Wayne and welcome to the site. I quit 211 days ago after a 30+ year nicotine habit. It is hard but WORTH it. Hang on for the ride and do get rid of the patch, it just delays the real quit. PM if i can help

Here's the "CONTRACT" that I made for myself. I have emailed it to all of my contacts, given a copy to my wife and both my kids. I even posted it on my facebook page today. Publishing it because I welcome the accountability!

CONTRACT TO QUIT

I am an addict.
I am addicted to smokeless tobacco.
I pledge to quit using smokeless tobacco.
After 30+ years of using smokeless tobacco, I have come to the realization that I am addicted. I consider myself a drug addict. I feel that I cannot make it through the day without dipping smokeless tobacco. I do not enjoy the habit, spitting or the taste of smokeless tobacco anymore. I am tired of felling dependent on snuff to get me started in the mornings, get me through the tough times in the day, get me through the slow periods when I have nothing to do and feeling like I must have one last dip before calling it the end of a day.
I want to do this for me, my wife Holly, my daughter Lauren and my son Austin, my extended family, my friends, my co-workers and the people that I may come in contact with each day.
I want to do this because of the cost associated with the habit; financially, physically, mentally and socially.
I plan to quit using Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) via a nicotine patch for the nicotine addiction, smokeless alternatives (fake snuff, beef jerky, sunflower seeds) for the oral fixation.
I will welcome support and encouragement from my family and friends as well as online support groups at www.killthecan.org

My quit date is March 30, 2009
