p.s. the fog really hit me hard early, too. I was afraid it would never lift. I was afraid i was permanently damaged. Other quitters told me they had a similar battle and it helped. It does lift. And, it's a sign that you are winning-- your brain is rewiring and adapting to cleaner blood chemistry-- you've been poisoning yourself for 11 years and so now you're healing! hang tough!
Brett speaks the truth. Nicotine reduces the amount of oxygen in your blood. Right now your brain is getting the oxygen it wants and deserves, but it is a little overwhelmed and confused that suddenly it is getting all of this oxygen... Thus the fog.

It took Brett, and me, and many others a little bit to reprogram. When the fog lifted, and it did, WOW was life better. Hang tough man, this is a battle that one day at a time you can handle. Freedom is a wonderful thing.

congratulations on taking your life back! if you follow the program here, you'll be successful. It took me years of failing, and now I'm doing it since I came here.

my best tips: (1) Document the sucky withdrawals and other stuff you go through here in your intro- it helps others see what sort of help you might need, and it's great to go back to later-- for you and other newer quitters (2) read all you can to learn what you're fighting-- read the article in my signature line. Read other quitters intros, read the welcome center here at KTC. The nicbitch tries all sorts of sneaky tricks, and the more you know the better (3) make friends here- create a support/accountability network. This is huge, to this day, for me-- and I never had it before here.

Keep stong- the pain early on is a good reminder of how bad this addiction really is-- you'll never have to go through it again once you quit for good! it gets so much better over time you won't believe it!

I can assure you that the fog lifts. I quit before for a long period, life eventually becomes normal again. You get away from the feeling of slavery. You've got a good start. I'm new here as well.

Hey guys,

Have been reading trough this site for several months but decided to sign up today. I started dipping in college and continued after graduation. I'm an insurance agent, and it was embarrassing for customers to come in my office when I was ninja dipping. Been dipping 11 years and decided I was tired of being a slave to the can exactly 1 week ago today! Days 1-3 were no fun, but days 4-7 have been even worse!!! It's hard to concentrate on anything! I can't remember hardly any conversations I've had. Trusting what I've read on this site to be true, and hopefully the fog will lift soon. Cheers!
Foggy my friend welcome to the wonderful world of quit! It's gonna suck and suck some more but it's worth every damn second! This shit is tough but definitely do able. You've got to really want it! Get in here post roll let's get you a badass quit going! We're waiting on you!
Well damn! You came to the right place to regain your freedom and self respect. This shit is tough, but that's what makes it so rewarding. Thousands have come before us and mapped the course. We post roll and honor our word. You are already through the worst of it. Its all mental now. Get over to the June quit group and try to post roll. Its ok if you fuck it up right now. All that matters is your word and staying quit for just the day. Tomorrow you can recommit. We can all quit one day at a time! Let us know if we can do anything to help. Lots of wisdom in these halls.
