Umm....We are here to quit. You quit for today, tomorrow you quit for that day...Repeat. Some have trouble wrapping their heads arond "forever", but have no doubt - there is absolutely no thought of ever going back to that poison.

CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit.
After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco. SportDad 1/13/05

Metallica, I am glad you realized that nic was your Master of Puppets and decided to Ride the Lighting. Most of can harken back to our Garage days of dipping, kinda Black times. This site is setup to deliver Justice for All quitters, and while at times you will want to Kill 'em All, you need to realize we are here for support. Let us carry the Load, and if you feel week you can always come back and Reload your hatred of nicotine.

Now, there a is a bit of everything on here for quitters - music threads, politics, religion, maybe even SM - but you should allow your (St.) Anger to be vented here. Never on your family, no matter how much you want to.

The nic bitch is going to call you and try and pull you in to your Death (almost like a) Magnet(ic). Keep telling her Fuck you, and day by day you will make Through (to) the Never.

Welcome, and congrats - and as asked above, whats up with the 2012 join date?
The problem is not the problem.  The problem is your attitude about the problem.  Do you understand?

If its too much trouble to post roll call, you could always fuck off.

Welcome Metallica, I'm always a bit excited to see one of my favorite bands from the 80's mentioned (they lost me at the Sandman album, too commercial from then on).

So, just curious on what's up with the join date being 2012?

Ethan, your a addict and you think that nicotine helps you concentrate but that is because without it your craving to feed your addiction is all you can think of. It takes time but eventually you will actually be thinking clearer and not be distracted by a need to poison yourself. I thought nicotine made everything better because if I didn't have it I was miserable. Now 850 days later I realize how fooled I was for over 4 decades. You can do it and you won't regret succeeding.
Everything he said is true. You CAN do this. Those feelings are just your addiction....calling you back for more.

Today is your day 1. Today is the day you quit. Congrats!

Now go post roll and keep that shit out of your body. It doesn't help you with anything other than feed the addiction.

You need to be positive about this quit and want it more than anything.

Hey everyone,

My name is Ethan and I've been dipping for 3.5 years. I started in military school, where pretty much everyone was doing it. It was like one day I had my first dip and then two days later I was dipping half a can a day, every day. I've tried to quit at least 5 times and failed every time, it's like every time I try to quit I change my mind a few days later, even if I'm determined at the beginning. Anyway, I figured it was time to change my approach and I stumbled across this site. I'm quitting in exactly 3 hours. However, I'm kind of worried about a few things. I don't want to get fat when I quit (I've never been overweight in my life) and I don't want my grades to drop. I understand preventing cancer is 10x more important than both of these things and that's why I'm quitting, but I really don't want to ruin my 4.0 (I'm worried about that because in my experience it's almost impossible to concentrate on anything while trying to quit).

Anyway, as far as my interests go, I'm in college working towards a mechanical engineering degree, but I spend most of my time doing theoretical math and physics (not trying to sound like an arrogant jerk, I genuinely enjoy it). I'm fully aware that the hardest part of this quit may actually be the math/physics, as I dip constantly when I do this kind of work and I may find it hard to do this without dipping.

Finally, I have a question for anyone on this site who has actually quit for an extended period of time. Whenever I try to quit, on the third/fourth day I always get this fear that the fogginess/lack of concentration I experience will never go away. I don't know why, I just get scared of that, even though I suspect it's a pretty irrational thought. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sorry for the length of this post.
Why are you quitting in 3 hours? Why not quit now? There's no time like the present.

As for the foggyness...it passes. Sure, you will be foggy as fuck, make no mistake about it, but it will pass in due time. Drink lots of water and exercise. I quit about a month before my final finals week. It sucked not having the nic bitch to keep me company while spending long hours in the library, but I pushed through it and so will you (granted I wasn't a engineering major lol).

Shoot me a PM if you need anything.
