Hey Scowick65 your HOF speech is cool. i feel like I've quit and have little or no desire to go back to nicotine. Sorry but I'm staying on the site because I'm learning a hell of a lot and having fun here. Now I'm sure that sounds weird but...
Not weird at all. This damn site is fun. I bet you never thought quitting had any "fun" related to it (neither did I.) I come back every night, even if it's for five minutes, for the fun. When I wake up the next morning, I realize how much fun it was. Namely, it helped me stay quit.

Now THAT'S fun!!

Thanks for the help guys you don't know how you and this site help my success. Keep it up and I'll be there for some other newbies I'm 100% with the program you guys have going here. My tip for newbs: wait and the urges, moods, and general evil humors will pass in a few minutes. Stay busy. I've got a busy job and it wasn't until just now that I could even log back in.

Hey man, check it out - it might not get easier until your on day 70 or better! For most it gets better a lot sooner, but I was a wreck and expecting it to get better almost derailed me a couple of times Let me tell you this - it is worth every sleepless night, every jaw ache, every foggy day, every crazy ass second spent on Ktc cussing out your brothers - it is worth it! Be courageous, don't be a pussy and stay solid by using all aspects of this site... Including Pms , texts, live chat and posting roll - and eventually give back.
Part of the nic bitches' strategy is to cause you to be temporarily insane and these cats on this site will lead you through your insanity.

Don't post back in a few days brother. Post back as soon as you can. Keep the numbers you have close by and use them on a regular basis. I just sent you mine in an email. Reach out if you need ANYTHING.

Yes, but not for quite a while. The "suck" is different for every person, but lasts at least a few days. Then the head games start.

There were days I stared at my computer screens for hours and did nothing. Can't really describe it, just kinda like a daze or like I was almost drunk. Weird.

While you're writing that letter about attitude, make a note not to take yoru rage out on those around you. It was a huge issue for me, and I'm usually a pretty laid-back guy. Not sure what your family situation is (married, kids, etc), but you have to shield them from this. Hit me up and I'll clarify that more if you want.

Thanks guys your support is a huge plus.  Since I was at work I thought I'd be a blithering idiot today so I exceeded myself in that way and didn't do too bad.  Also just not having the can around made me free to not cave or really dwell on that.  There are 2 or 3 places to buy on way to and from work but time to man up and stay quit.
You need to start learning to use a few tools to deal with what's ahead. Not bringing a can with you is certainly a start, but reach out and get to know some people. In addition to posting your promise everyday, privately promise a few of your quit brothers that you'll talk to them before you use again. Get the phone numbers of folks who will talk/text/yell whatever at/with you when you need them.

Get invested here, even if you think it's silly. The dividends are incredible.
This ^^^^ is right on the money. Reach out and get those numbers, they are like a life line so to speak. You can text or call anyone on here at any time and they will be their for you. If you need a number or more numbers, just pm me and I will gladly give you mine.
Agreed.... sound advice. I thought I'd mention that I completely changed my routine for a couple months when I first quit. Took a different route to work, and NEVER went in convenience stores. Only got gas where I could pat at the pump. Why? Because most of the clerks at the stores on my commute were so familiar, they'd slap 2 wintergreen cans and a pack of Golden Blend on the counter when I came in the door. I didn't know if I had enough willpower to fight through that, especially with the cute smiles some them flashed.

Let's see what's underneath all that crap...............
Man, you are exactly right. You are going to learn a lot about yourself. There will be some rough times as you learn to deal with the unfiltered rage that nicotine has dulled in the past. Be prepared for that, because it can be rough on those closest to you. Prepare them, let them read on this site so that they will be able to recognize what you are going through. That will make it easier on all of you.

On the positive side: you are in for a wonderful ride. The high points and excitement were also dulled by nicotine. Many of us have not REALLY enjoyed any of the good stuff in our adult lives since we started using nicotine as young teenagers. Be prepared, bro...... there are some surprises there. You will derive more intense enjoyment from things you've been doing for years. When those times come around just relax, enjoy the moment, congratulate yourself on a good decision, and think..... "Ole Radman was right. This is good stuff.".

Reach out if you need anything. We're all here to help.
