First my story. Started chewing back in 1994 after a frat bro said it made beer taste better...threw up and should've stopped there but didn't, was a smoker too which I primarily did until later in 1999, I told myself chewing was better than smoking and that's when the habit really got going. Last few years the habit got up to 1-2 cans a day and I was buying rolls of skoal mint extra every 3 days or so to never run out. My doc has been after me for years to quit, and I was in the hospital in march with a case of acute pancreatitis (related?). The last straw was a recent dentist visit for an infected wisdom tooth and the dentist said no cancer yet...big emphasis on yet...so, I used having my wisdom teeth taken out last Thursday (with instructions against tobacco use for a week) as a way to kick the habit for good. I hope this forum also helps. My teeth stopped hurting 2 days ago, yesterday had a big craving but powered through, today was easier. I'm single, never married (former gfs wanted me to quit and I quit them instead) so any and all recommendations for what to do when the craving hits are welcome. Thanks!
