Not a very productive day today as I've spent most of it on here. Oh well, reading stuff on here does help that's for sure. One other statement is that I am also an alcoholic. I get up and go to work every morning, but I don't usually have a hard time falling asleep if you know what I mean. I saw where someone recommended not drinking during the quit as that can be a huge trigger (and would be for me). I just don't want to bite off more than I can chew (no pun intended). Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Ouch! Damn man, you have any other addiction that you want to throw in the mix?

Lighty - You'll be two days deep once you leave the dentist tomorrow. Regardless of the news, don't throw those 2 days away. They're the toughest days you will face. You made a commitment to yourself and to your August team. Suck it up and stay strong. I quit with you today.
Guys - man I appreciate all messages. Can't tell you how much they help. Still nic free as of 10:15AM. Somebody sent me a PM that said to list all your triggers. What if you're mind is a devious muthafu**er. I've set it up so everything is a trigger! Driving to work, once you get to work and get coffee, after you eat your lunch, about 2PM after you eat a few cookies, the drive home from work, after you give your daugther her bath (dip in for only 5 mins as pathetic as that is), After you have a few drinks, anytime you are playing golf, working out in the yard, grilling on the green egg, walking/running with the dogs, playing candy crush, watching a movie at the movie theatre.

Man I could go on and on, but it feels good to write them down. Lunch is coming up and I'm not gonna dip.
Triggers are what you let them become. I don't have many triggers because breathing was the reason I would chew. Fuck the triggers. You don't chew anymore, right? I don't so I had to spray with the tractor without dip. No big deal except dropped my seeds once. Just look at it like everything you used to do with dip you can now do without looking retarded with your bottom lip full of dog shit.
More importantly, glad to see another egg head. I love cooking on that thing.
Hang tough, bro.
Quit with you.

Lighty we all have a shit ton of triggers. My trigger was breathing! I was an all day everyday except meals kind of guy. If I can do it so can you. Drink a shit ton of water, avoid caffeine, and exercise. I'll quit with you all day long. Just be sure you don't disappear after the Dentist tells you everything is ok tomorrow. My number is in your PM Box USE IT!
We probably all share most of the triggers. It's how the addiction works. The more I learned, the more pissed I got at the fact that the evil weed is legal and many profit from others slavery and death. Learn all you can about the enemy then kick it squarely in the teeth man!

. The Easy Way to Quit Smoking by Alan Carr is another good book. It exposes a lot of lies about nicotine. It's not just for smokers, as the name suggests.

Here's some more education material- SpartonRon shared it with me, and I pass it along a lot because I got a lot from it.... mostly, I got really pissed because I started seeing the light about the evil weed and its pushers.

Nicotine Addiction 101

Another good one that rdad recommended to me is John Polito's Freedom from Nicotine, which you can get for free online.
This info helped me early on, and still does today: https://whyquit.com/whyquit/linksaaddiction.html

Quitters I’ve met so far: Ihatecope, >Pinched<, T-Cell, grizzlyhasclaws, Canvasback, BaseballPlayer, Cbird65, ERDVM, BradleyGuy, Ted, Zeno, AppleJack, Bronc, Knockout, MookieBlaylock, Rdad, 2mch2lv4, MN_Ben, Natro, Lippizaner, Amquash, ChristopherJ, GDubya, SRohde  -- always eager to meet more!

I would at least recommend watching your alcohol intake until you get some quit under your belt. If laying off the booze increases your chance of staying quit at all and eliminates some craves, then I think it would be worth it, don't you? I'm not saying you have to be a choir boy, but I've seen drinking be a factor in many a cave, so I would at least proceed with caution. Alcohol can make some people do some crazy shit. Giving in to a crave for a pinch of chew, being at the bottom of that list. Be careful my friend!

My 2 cents....

I'm a heavy drinker as well (3-5 drinks a day), and I have not eased back since I have been quit. Maybe it helps I drink at home, thus I am in a nic free zone. I do not drink in public other than the once a month we go to Applebee's or BWW's. I haven't been to a bar without my wife in ???? 13-14 years? What I am trying to say is that I booze it up on the daily, but I can't get to nicotine if I wanted to as the nearest place is 3 miles away and I will not drive once I have started drinking. I have also started watching funny videos on Youtube and Netflixs at night to steer my craves. I have not notice an increase of craves when I am buzzed, but I don't have peer pressure either.

I do not know your personal situation so I do not know the risks for you, but in my 2 months of involvement here it seems like booze leads to caves quite frequently. I'd side with the side of caution as the folks here at the KTC have the knowledge, listen to them. I quit with you today.

Here is an oldie but good one. The nice thing about quitting chew is that you will never spit tobacco juice on your dick again. You know you have done it while taking a crap and tried to split the small area between your legs. Yeah, you did.
Holy shit. Dude that is thee funniest but truest thing that I have read on KTC since I have been here. Thanks for that. We need to do a survey, "how many of you have spit tabackee juice on your pecker when taking a shit?"

Lighty, welcome! The quit ain't no joke. The 1st 3-4 days will make you think that you made a mistake, you HAVE NOT. It sucks. I had nightmares, the serious case of the shits, hallucinating- that's for real too, and I was an absolute fuckin asshole for 4 days but you know what, it was damn well worth it. You have to understand something, this is an addiction, a disease, a very powerful one. You will live with this every single day for the rest of your life. You can never just have 1 chew again, EVER. When you realize what I have said to you, your on your way to a great life without a pile of shit in your mouth.

I can't make this any more clearer to you. You need to be here posting roll EVERY DAY. No bullshit, no excuses and no half-assing it!

Someone once told me here that you may have to quit 1 minute at time on somedays, as crave trigger you may never have thought of will pop up - and it is so true. I can promise you I'll quit every second, minute and hour with you today if you can do the same for me. Am I missing your name on the August roll? Posting roll tells me and the KTC you are serious about this quit.

UPDATE - Way to post roll Lighly! Quit Like Fuck today.
