Today is my 100th day. After years of smoking cigarettes, cigars, and dipping snus, I am officially off nicotine. I have been in the position before.
After making it thru my teen years, IÂ’m in my 20Â’s and waiting tables. Sitting around after work and drinking a beer. I bum a cigarette off a co-worker. Next day another cigarette. After weeks, I buy a pack because I feel guilty. Next thing you know, I am smoking a pack a day. After 5+ years of smoking I quit cold turkey.
Several years pass and I innocently started smoking cigars. I was thinking “I just puff on these.” Before long, I am at the store buying small cigars and inhaling them like cigarettes.
After 5+ years of cigars stranglehold on my life, I quit those. I thought my days of nicotine were over.
Several years later, I started dipping snus while playing golf with friend. Next thing you know, I am at the store buying cans of this and always having in my mouth while awake.
Now I am pushing 50, and thankfully I am done with this poison for the rest of my life. This last quit was too hard and donÂ’t want to go thru the withdrawal symptoms again. My advice to future quitters:
1) If you are thinking about quitting, you are ready. There is never a good time. Don't spend the next 20 to 30 years doing this.
2) At the minimum, look at the website. Other people are going thru the same thing.
3) Quit cold turkey. Only way I was successful three times.
4) There will be days that piss you off, but the symptoms will pass.
5) DonÂ’t ever touch any form of the shit again. It's not worth it.
Good Luck!
