Statistics show you have a much better chance of actually being quit on January 2nd if you flush all nic and post roll today. I had plenty of quit dates come and go. If you want to kill the can...what are you waiting for? It won't be easier because of a holiday. It won't be easier because it's a new year. It won't be easier...

If you quit right now, you'll be doing yourself a huge favor. Come January 2nd, the nic will already be out of your system and you'll be coming out of the suck and dealing with mind games instead of just entering the suck.

Is it ok if I want to quit on New Years?

Like a 2012 resolution.

I really don't want to commit till my day, ya know.

(thanks for the link Steve1357)
Where are your balls?

Is it okay to suck on cancer one more moment? Is it okay to concede, to tap out, to say "i just don't have the backbone to quit"? Is it okay not to be your own man?

NO its not okay. Dippy is right. This is failure.
No it is NOT OK to wait. We all are quit, you should be too.

How many times have all of us had a "Planned" quit that did not work. Many MANY times for me.

The only good time to quit is right fucking NOW!!

You guys are rough, sounds alot like the boat.

I really do appreciate it, and please don't take this the wrong way, but I believe in the motivation of a goal date. The mental buildup and whatnot. However, you all are definitely more qualified than I to give advice.

You are right, I have made this new years resolution in the past. It lasted 4 months and then after 5 weeks of breathing the same air (LITERALLY) I broke down and threw in a lipper, here I am today, 2 years later.

Please bare with me, as I am new, but I'm sure if yall keep giving me sh1t, it will help. We submariners do better when our buttons are pushed.

I want to quit for my son, my wife, and mostly for my health. I am so so so darn tired of it, and at the same time I like it. I know all of you that are reading this know exactly what I'm talking about. If this is the right location I would like to vent. (is there a "vent" forum?)

You can quit anytime you want too.

But how many new years resolutions have you made in the past to quit?

I know I made that resolution the past 8-10 years and it never lasted until the next day.

There is never a good day to quit. But if you want to quit, why wait another minute.

"Your plan to quit is as realistic as my plan to win the lottery". There is always a reason not to quit. Dump that shit out now and quit today. It only takes one dip to cause cancer. Why risk it for three more days?

OK... I know I said I was going to sign up, and I AM..... but I am far too Druzk to figure it out right now.

Anyone who has been day after duty, in the shipyard, on shore duty, on fam.sep.pay, will understand.

Lets see if I can figure it out in the morning.

Thank you for your srevice 'noonelikesaquitter' because I assume you are a Marine, er somethin' based off your post.

How many times have you put this off? If you want it, get it. Tomorrow never comes.

Good to hear from a fellow submariner!

MM1(SS)... SSN-755(fast boat), currently on shore duty, to you Navy folk... i'm a nuc, all you coners will understand.

If cold turkey is the best way that's what i'll do.

I'm gonna sign up.

Already I am impressed with the support.

Thank you to all, and special thanks to 'bubblehed668' for your service, I've done a northern run, it was 9 months. (you know what's up) ;)
We always need a good nuke to push us coners around. I understand your day after, but no excuse. Check your email and look in the upper right corner for "Inbox" and click on it. There are some messages for you to read. You nuc knucle draggers can figure it out.

Post your promise now...

Dont wait till tomorrow

It does not matter if you screw up roll call.

Go to April 2012 and say " I am Navynuc, and I promise not to use nicotine today. Day 1".

Edit: Link to April 2012 quit group.

If i sign the roll call, that means I give my word I won't use dip AND nicotine right?

I was planning on using patches to assist the quit, is that ok or should I work out a new plan?

I am currently most concerned with not dipping ever again, i'm cool with a patch for a little while.

Please tell me if I am messed up, screwing up, or if I am posting wrong...total nub here.

Thanks to all.
Read the links I sent you.

Yes, posting roll is giving your word you will not use nicotine. Any nicotine.

Cold turkey is the best way.

Don't worry about being a total newb and asking questions. We have all been where you are.

You can do this.

Don't be a Dinq nonqual. Step up spit that shit and get your quit on. If needed I can make you a Qual card and we can step through this. And we will get through this.
