Day 84. My ability to change this part of my life has improved something within me, other than the obvious lip and gum health. My pride in being able to face and handle something that enslaved me for 20 years is extending to other portions of my life.

Now that I am steady in my quit, with my triggers taken care of, and the craves at a manageable level, I'm successfully working on exercise and calorie counting. Being smart about what I eat, not only in a nutrition sense, but in a natural sense. Avoiding chemicals wherever possible. Eating organic vegetables as much as possible. Buying meat and poultry that hasn't been loaded with antibiotics.

I know for a fact that Killing the Can was the first step in a much healthier Adam. Thanks to all for the support thusfar. Keep on being quit!

So, after 58 days, even though I dipped Kodiak for 20 years, I don't think I can remember exactly what it tasted like.  And here's how I know.

I ran out of Hooch (I have some cherry somewhere, but that tastes like a cupcake.)  I haven't been using it much anyway.  My new sunflower seed addiction is threatening to seize up my arteries though.

I stopped in at Walmart to get some Smokey Mountain, just to have.  And I had one on the way home.

Holy fuck, it's just like Kodiak...  at least as far as I can remember.  Close enough that I feel like I'm cheating!

I have one in now and I swear I can feel a buzz.

Anyway, just wanted to have some fake dip on hand to combat the craves and cut down on my 90000mg of sodium a day the seeds are giving me.

Love,
Adam
I bought Golden Eagle a week or so back --first fake stuff since my quite. It's ok but the consistency is not quite there--also its too sweet. I chewed Skoal Straight looking for something closer

You recommend Smokey Mountain Straight? I've also heard a lot about Hooch--what do you recommend as best fake stuff?

By the way --seeds and fake shit--cheat on that stuff all you want. Keep Grinding it out one day at a time
Hooch is finer cut, but the Classic flavor to me tasted like Straight. The only Smokey Mountain I have tried is the Wintergreen. I have one in now and I swear it's real dip. It burns, it's long cut, the wintergreen/tobacco flavors are there.

Day 43. Going well for the most part; starting to scale down on the Hooch. It's just not that much of a draw anymore. Some days I don't have any.

I was on the way to work today, when I had this strong desire for some Kodiak. Being in a traffic jam on a highway, I was in no danger, so I allowed myself to think about it. What was it that I was missing and craving? The taste? The burn? The mildest of stimulation? I couldn't figure it out.

I ended up laughing at myself. It was a great moment.
I am still waiting for my ah-ha moments but I know they will come. Proud to quit with you today!

Day 33:

Sitting in a meeting today and the guy next to me is chomping a wintergreen life saver. The smell made me instinctively look to see if I knocked over my spitter. Then I had a massive crave... for the first time.

It surprised me, because it has been over a month and I haven't had any real craves.

Well, 33 days down. I'm proud (very proud.) My pride in this is my main motivator right now. That, and living to age 106. You see, I was too young to fully enjoy the 70's the first time...

Day 30!  Who would have thought...

My use of Fake Dip is decreasing as well.  I just bought my brother 6 tins of Hooch Wintergreen, and told him about this place.  He was reluctant at first but I think he'll be joining.
Rock on!!!!!!!

Day 21. It's all coming together.

I find that the things that got me through days 5-today (Hooch Fake Dip) are starting to draw me less. That's cool. I mean, I have a fat Hooch Wintergreen in right now, but I'm probably down to two a day.

I have been drinking with my friends many times, and never has the urge even hit me to put something in besides seeds or a Hooch. My dip friends have been trying the Hooch variety pack, and I think that the knowledge that something so close to the real thing exists is pushing them to the quit. My brother as well.

I'm past the point in my life of getting supremely drunk, so I'm not worried about waking up with a tin. I can enjoy drinks with the guys. They wouldn't let me dip anyways. But it doesn't come up. I am committed, and decided. It's a wonderful Zen feeling. I understand that it's one day at a time, and I can see that I'll have many one days in a row, because I'm really, really, really quit in my mind. I'm very happy and want to thank everyone here for getting me to the three week point.

Posting roll every day and will check back in here when it makes sense.

Liberty, glad to see you are hanging in there.  No one ever said it was easy, but we all agree it is worth it.  Keep it up man.  You have my number, reach out anytime if you need anything.
Keep fighting brother.
Still going. Does everyone else have times of the day that are your hardest? For me my hardest times are after lunch and dinner as well as close before I go to bed. But like said, still doing it. Hooch is used at those times. Guess those three cravings a day are good for someone who used to have nasty crap in my mouth almost all the time with the exception of when I ate and slept.

Day 21 here as well and i agree, I feels a bit better everyday. Very nice work and let's be sure and help out those in the more troubling early stages, commit each day, and remember that even when we feel good a crave can hit and we need to be strong.
