Thanks for the people who have replied with encouragement. What I don't get about the backlash from my post is that all I did was acknowledge that someone can love the psyochological aspects of dipping -- the action, carrying the can, the taste, the ritual; the venemous responses were that it's only my body loves the nicotene. That's totally bogus. Otherwise after the 5-7 days of physical withdrawal, we'd be all done guys.
The ritual that you mention was simply your efficient method of feeding your nicotine addiction. The ritual was designed by yourself to feed your addiction. I hope, and believe, that you will come to develop a little disdain for the efficiency with which you got the nicotine into your body. From what we've learned here some hatred and disdain go along way in a successful quit. Especially when it's a hatred of poison the actions we took to slowly kill ourselves.

Glad you decided to stay and post roll with us. Hopefully as time moves forward you will see the brotherhood that exists here and you will embrace it. We are simply here to keep each other quit. That is it.

Cornfed,
If using Chantix, please be sure to keep in touch with you doc and let him/her know how you are doing on it. Many have quit using it. Just realize that one day soon, you will need to quit it as well....Stay nic free and post here and in your group.....Tough love is tough some times ( 'winker' )....Strap tight for a fun ride.

Thanks man. I was dipping nearly a can a day. I tried cold turkey lots of times (congrats to all those who have succeeded that way). This time I'm using Chantix. I know the risks. It's worth it to me. Doc offered me 2mg twice a day. I am taking 1mg twice a day. I'm aware that I gotta quit that at some point, too. However, in the 7 days of tapering and now 3 days of being quit (looking forward to hearing guys say I'm not quit :) ) I have already enjoyed decreased pulse, increased sleep time, and less heartburn. So I think I'm on the right path for me for now. Thanks.

OK well so much for this group. Thanks for all the hateful responses guys. I've been quit over 36 hours, posted roll twice, but this group clearly ain't for me. I cut back from almost a can to less than 3 dips a day two weeks before completely quitting. Due to my legal of addiction, my doctor recommended Chantix and this group. I'll let him know this group is only for perfect angels who aren't allowed to share their real thought.
Marcus
Hey Cornfed, buh bye. I haven't met many perfect angels on this site, but I know for a fact that little pussies don't last long here. When you talk to your doctor, tell him to only recommend this to people who are ready to quit. Tell him to give chantix to everyone who just wants to stop chewing.
Good luck!
Nicotine free is nicotine free.

If you're quit, you're welcome to post any day with me bud. It doesn't matter how you got to the park, it's whether you had the courage to get on the rides.

Yeah, if you're saying you would still be dipping if you were healthy, you don't hate dip enough to quit. You have to hate it. Hate the companies that make it, hate everything about it.

Marcus I'm an old pussy and 2 years ago I used chantix and I got a reaming by a mod. Some people are total asses. If chantix works for you use it. I will say I did have the fucked up dreams, and I was already suicidal. A lot of quitters come and get pissed at comments by others. That's part of the rage that accompanies early withdrawal and quitting. The tough love is something that also makes some others deal with their quitting. Your comments about loving dip is bullshit; you love satisfying your addiction. As you succeed day by day you will begin to realize that much of the comments about quitting that you've been given are accurate. For some the hatred realization grows with your quit. I quit with you!
Chantix is fine if it helps. Anything is fine. This is hard dude... Much harder than a non-addict can understand. The soonervthatbyou get over the "love" the better for your state of mind. We've all been in your shoes. Don't give up on this plan. It works when nothing else does.

Quit before I went to bed last night (July 4) for my 35th birthday..

After I first started, I kept the can around for fun times like races and cook-out. Then I started doing it alone. I liked the country boy aspect of it when I moved to the city. But really I just loved the nicotine juice in my mouth, throat and belly.

If it wasn't unhealthy, I'd never quit because dipping is great. But it is unhealthy. I think it is the main cause of my chronic heartburn and elevated pulse (I work out a lot and should have a nice low resting pulse). I'm here for the support and to encourage others.

I started Chantix 10 days ago and tapered down to last night. I think it really helped me get to today. It's off-label but for me, having dipped at least a can a day as recently as 12 days ago, I needed it.

Listen Cornhole, you pretty much already fucked that up. 1st off, Chantix? Do you know what it says on the label of that shit? Right under the Warning label, look for it. It says, "this product is for pussies who can't be real men and quit cold turkey" 2nd. You really chewed a whole can a day? Wow, this might not be the right place for you, that's some real hard core chewin' right there. 'no' 3rd. AJ is absolutely right. "I'd never quit because dipping is great." What the fuck kind of statement is that? If you come here with that kind of mentality you have failed already, do not waste anymore of our time. I think a lot of people have used chantix to quit. I won't disparage that at all. I do not think Grady should have either. The fact is you quit nicotine on the 4th. That is great.

The problem is, from your words, you seem to be lamenting the fact that you've quit. If that is the case it is not good. Here we educate ourselves on the truth regarding tobacco/nicotine. The truth will dissipate these feelings that your tobacco usage gave you "good times". The truth is it tastes like dog shit. The truth us it kills you. The truth is it's extremely addictive. The truth is it's completely repulsive to other people.

I am assuming you've posted roll in your quit group. I'm assuming you've honored your word. If so congrats on a great move for yourself. Failure is not an option and no excuse is acceptable here. I suggest you dig in to the resources here and read non stop to educate yourself. If you don't embrace the KTC formula your chance for failure is high and you'll receive no sympathy. If you do embrace Ktc you are guaranteed to succeed and you will receive more support than you can imagine.

I quit with you today.
