Great day to quit my friend! I've only got a week in the books but it may not have been if it weren't for KTC and the people here. I invite you to stick around and get to know the place and people behind it. There is a wealth of support and camaraderie here for you.
No way. Dip was never your friend. Sure it was "with you" the past 20 years but it infiltrated your life and was only by your side because you were addicted to it. It wasn't doing anything for you and you never needed it.

Typically friends have a bond of MUTUAL affection. What kind of affection was dip giving you? Did you guys have some deep conversations? Did you share secrets? Did you comfort your tin when it was having problems? When was your tins birthday? Did your tin give you good advice? Did you talk shit to your tin when you beat him in your fantasy football league?

Dip was never your fucking friend. You are a nicotine addict, that's what's going to make the "break up" so tough. The sooner you get the notion that nicotine was doing ANYTHING for you out of your head, the better.

Also you need to come at this with a better attitude. You sound like a real pussy. HOPEFULLY you have the willpower???? You're not sure where this road is going to end??? You're going to give her all she's got?

Dude...grow a set of fucking balls and come at this with some enthusiasm.

And if your using nic gum or nic tacs or some other shit like that, then you're doing yourself no favors and you're not really quitting. Your just trading one "friend" for another.

Nicotine is a friend to nobody. Drop the bitch and make some real friends here. They can leas you to freedom.

Up to you, bub.

What kind of enthusiasm should I use Diesel2112. The bottom line is that I'm 2 days can free. If you quit cold turkey more power to you. If I have to pop a nicorette once or twice a day to get over the hump so be it. I've looked for the articles about nicorette gum addiction and I'm either blind or doesn't exist. But what does matter is that we continue to fight this addiction and beat it every minute, every hour, every day.

Btw... don't ever come at me using words like pussy or grow a set of balls. Quitting has sucked more than I have imagined. But you know what sucks worse. That pussy icon you display under your name. Grow a set of balls and enjoy tonight's national championship game while I start on my day 3 of quitting. Put that in your HOF.
This isn't about Michigan or Ohio State. This is about quitting, so I'm not even going to address that.

What kind of enthusiasm? How about putting some faith in yourself.

"I know I can do this"
"I will not fail"
"This road will end with me being quit"
"Fuck you dip, I'm done with you".

Try that instead of being a bitch boy and basically setting yourself up for failure. "Golly gee whiz guys, I HOPE I can do this. I'm sure gonna give the old college try. Yuck Yuck Yuck". Fucking WEAK!!!!!!!

Also, as has been stated this is a ZERO NICOTINE site. No gums, no lozengesz no pussy patches, etc... How can you be fighting addiction when you are using the very substance you are addicted to???? Is it ok for a 3 bottle a day whiskey drinker to chug a beer of two to "get over the hump"? Think about it.

Bottom line is the ball is in your court. You can either do this the right way and become a champion of quit like the rest of us. Or, you can flake out and disappear like so many pussies before you who have opening intros just like yours.

My guess is you vanish like a fart in the wind. Prove me wrong...

Whether nicotine dependency was established and/or maintained by being chewed, smoked, drank, snuffed, sprayed, swallowed, sucked, licked or patched, in the end there is only one way out - no nicotine today.

OhioMatt,

This is a no nicotine site. No nicotine gum, no nicotine patch. The price of admission here is to post roll promising not to use nicotine in any form. If you are unwilling to quit nicotine you need to move along.

Oh Boy.... Matt you need to do a lot more reading around here to realize we all do this cold turkey. NO NICOTINE IN ANY FORM. You are just prolonging the inevitable. We are addicted to nicotine. Not Dip.

and also...I would recommend you take the time to read Diesels intro. He went through hell and back to become the quitter he is today. You are spouting shit of which you know nothing about. It cant even be attributed to the "FOG" because you still have nicotine coursing through your veins.
Cold turkey, you are just prolonging your agony if you are using lozenges and you are not really quit. Read this article http://whyquit.com/whyquit/linksaaddiction.html now tell me how nicotine supplements are going to help you. Flush them down the toilet and post a day 1. You can do it now or you can do it a month from now when you decide to man up. Every person on this board who posts roll is completely nic free with no gum, patches or any of it.

Today is day 300 for me. I had a lot of firsts over the last 300 days without nicotine in any form and guess what I found out. My lawnmower worked without nic, as did my truck, golf cart, golf clubs, fishing rods, bow, gun, Christmas lights you name it. I was a can a day dipper who didn't think I was strong enough to quit. I was wrong. Flush the nic and lets get to quitting.

I am in Ohio and will be watching the game nicotine free...you in or you out?

It will suck until it doesn't and then it won't.

We are both on the same boat. I have almost finished my first 24 hours of not taking a dip. I am going crazy actually. I hope I can sleep tonight. This is my first post. I had problems figuring the site our. I have been chewing for 34 years.

Wow, maybe I missed a comma?!? Should have read "Great day to quit, my friend"
Ha. I think he meant to quote the OP, not you.

In which case the sentiment applies.

Go back and read the original post, then his reply . .

Great day to quit my friend! I've only got a week in the books but it may not have been if it weren't for KTC and the people here. I invite you to stick around and get to know the place and people behind it. There is a wealth of support and camaraderie here for you.

I'm armed with "the gum"  "lozenges" and hopefully the will power.
If you mean wrigley's spearmint and pepperment then we're good.

But nicotine supplements are not part of the program here. We don't cut back. We don't chew nicorrrette.

We quit cold turkey.

I quit cold turkey almost exactly a week ago (in a few hours from now).

My Day 1
« on: January 11, 2015, 09:58:00 PM »
Today is my first day not using tobacco. I've been an avid dipper for over 20 years. For the most part I haven't had the urge to quit, even when family got on my case about it. I knew it was bad for my health, however I enjoyed it so much, that I tuned any negativity out. My dip was like a good friend that had gone through nearly every life experience since my teenage years. In some weird way, it was like a best friend that I'd come to rely on.

I turn 40 in the next month. And I can't think of a better present to give myself than freedom from this. Today is my day 1, and breaking up is never easy. I'm armed with "the gum"  "lozenges" and hopefully the will power. I know this won't be easy and I don't know how this road will end, but I'm gonna give her all she's got scotty.
