Hello everyone! I am currently in day 2 after dipping copenhagen practically my whole life and a am now 56 so probably 45 yrs. My God!

Ive been reading some of the stuff on the site today and I think what scares my most is the anxiety and panic attacks. I am a retired air traffic controller and probably kept those at bay with the dip. Not sure who this person will be after the fog is clear. Scary
Jmckay here I've been quit 890 days I had anxiety before I quit chew was a coping mechanism for me to deal with stress or emotional moment. I just pushed past it. Dont be afraid of anxiety or panic attacks that will give them more strength. Its like being afraid of fear not rational. I started when I was 13 quit when I was 36 not as long as you but long enough it was engrained as who I was. Find some people you can text your promise to and stick with it.

Hey Rick, we have all been through what your going through, and are still going through it, but on a less intense level. Like the guys said, you are in the right place. We talk about day posting, but at your stage take it one minute at a time, and then get through the next minute. Communicate with everyone, rage in here not at home, and stay quit, friend. QWY

Hi Rick,

Congratulations on deciding to quit nicotine.  I dipped for over 30 years myself and was up to 3 cans a day when I quit 609 days ago.  The process is simple here.  We quit One Day At A Time (ODAAT).  We don't worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will come with its own challenges and rewards.  Only focus on getting through today.

1. Post your promise to be nicotine free for the next 24 hours
2. Keep your word
3. Repeat Daily

We Wake Up, Piss, Post (WUPP) our promise early in the day to take nicotine off the table and we do it Every Damn Day (EDD) weekends and holidays included.

Your quit group is going to be December Pre-HOF Quit Group.  You can click that link and it will take you right to it.  Learn how to post roll.  Keep your word and repeat every day.  Start exchanging phone numbers with other quitters in your group as well as some vets.  Use those numbers when the craves are rough.  Also use those numbers to get to know your fellow quitters and build the bonds of brotherhood and accountability.  It is much harder to break a promise to someone you know than a complete internet stranger.  I guarantee you, your addict brain will come up with some damn good excuses to cave, but if you made your promise, you can overcome anything your addict brain throws at you.

I quit with you today,

Chris
If you want my digits, just ask and they will be yours, but I expect yours in return.

You'll be exactly who God created you to be. Welcome Rick.  Copenhagen was my nemesis as well. Stopped a gazillion times before I stumbled across this site.
You're not here by accident.  You're tired of being its bitch.
We quit one day at a time brother.  Make your promise to your hall first thing in the morning; take nicotine off the table.  Get some digits and get voices to go with them.  Yeah, that's right, actually reach out and turn these pixels into flesh and blood. Flesh and blood that you can call when your scalp starts crawling and you feel an overwhelming urge to reach across the counter and strangle that clerk just for whistling a tune you don't like. I'll be right there with you.
