Turns out there's method to our madness:

Title: Quitting smoking using health issue-specific Social Networking Sites (SNSs): What influences participation, social identification, and smoking cessation self-efficacy?
Author:Joe Phua
Year: 2013
Publication: Journal of Smoking Cessation
DOI: 10.1017/jsc.2013.18
URL: http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/jsc.2013.18

Abstract:

Introduction: This study examined members of health issue-specific social networking sites (SNSs) for smoking cessation, applying Social Identity Theory (SIT). Aims: The aim of the study was to test the relationships between perceived verbal, affective, cognitive and physical intimacy on the sites, participation level, social identification and smoking cessation self-efficacy.

Methods: An online questionnaire (N = 252) assessed members of SNSs for smoking cessation. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), structural equation modelling (SEM), mediation analysis, MANOVA and ANOVA tests were used to test the hypotheses.

Results/Findings: Verbal, affective, cognitive and physical intimacy significantly predicted participation; participation significantly predicted social identification and smoking cessation self-efficacy; and social identification mediated between participation and smoking cessation self-efficacy. Active participants and lurkers differed significantly on perceived verbal, affective, cognitive and physical intimacy, social identification, and smoking cessation self-efficacy.

Conclusions: Health issue-specific SNSs for smoking cessation have a positive impact on members' smoking cessation self-efficacy. Higher perceived intimacy facilitates participation online, which in turn influences smoking cessation self-efficacy, with social identification mediating this relationship.

Slap that in your intro, Casey. That's what it's for. Update it from time to time with your experiences, so you can look back on it. It will get lost here.

Kevin James here and day 56 is half way over since it's 11:30 here! I have body aches again since I awoke, as well as just a shitty feeling! My quit is going great, my family loves me, and life is wonderful. My question is: after 56 days are these feelings normal? Do I just expect this, anxiety, and crappy days from now on? Is the 100 day (for the most part) mark the turn to more of the great days? Thanks in advance!
56 days and 9 posts. I take it you aren't posting roll. You have probably entered a funk. It will pass.

Try posting with November 13, they are all about the same time as you and will be experiencing similar reactions.

I just found this site Friday and started posting then and so far I have gotten a lot of great messages. I just wanted some info on what I am feeling now. Thanks
This is the place for answers. A great deal of information is in the Welcome Center. It really helped me when I first quit.

  • Interests: Well I chose my family over the 2 cans of Copenhagen a day that I have been chewing since I was 15. I just turned 40 a few weeks ago. Playing minor league baseball didn't help either. After seeing several Dr.'s because of all sorts of crazy feelings I had after my quit I learned I have anxiety that seems to be a direct affect of quitting this SHIT! Thanks to the people who have affirmed that too me. (I never knew what anxiety was!) I will do this for my family! I coach both of my sons baseball team a 14 year old team, and a 12 year old team. My two daughters also are active! One is on a competition gymnastics team and the other is on a dance and cheer squad. My wife is amazing and they all had to deal with my sorry ass (the first weeks of the quit) attitude, temper, and sheer disrespect!

Does smokeless tobacco cause anxiety issues like social anxiety? Has any dipper experienced symptoms of anxiety while actively addicted and using the garbage?

I'm not asking about anxiety after quitting. I'm talking about your last five or so years as an active dipper.

Symptoms like: Racing heart, dizziness, spacey feeling, can't concentrate, room closing on, balance issues, hand tremors, etc.

Is it possible the product has gotten stronger and has more chemicals in it than what it did when you and I started over 20 years ago?

Thoughts? Feedback? Experiences?
Yes.

I got to the point that I could not get enough, but even a small amount would create the symptoms you describe. I believe the term is "toxic".

If you have reached this point, I would think it is a very good idea not to use nicotine anymore. I don't know what is on the other side but I am sure it ends in a trip to the hospital and possibly the morgue.

Symptoms of nicotine overdose.

If you say you are quit and threw your stuff out, then you are quit NOW. NOW is your day 1. Congrats.

Why wait? Planned quits are stupid.

Read the Welcome Center and get your name on the Decmber 2013 Roll Call. That is your new home.

Mike
Welcome, Mike.

First, congratulations on the best decision you ever made.

Next, you can do this. If I can, you can.

You are about to get slammed with support from a ton of strangers who only have one goal - to help keep you Quit.

You are going to be part of the badasses in December 2013. I suggest you read the WELCOME CENTER in the upper left of the screen. That's a great place to start.

Finally, you need to read. A lot. Everything on here is worth looking at. This site is THE place to be if you want to Quit, and it is filled with Quit knowledge.

Welcome again brother. You need anything, PM me, and I'll do what I can to help.

Day 1,283
^^^This guy speaks the truth. You can a nd will do this. It will be more fun than a sack full of shaved cats dipped in water. Throw out all of your shit. Cans, spitters, and secret safety stashes.

Head on over to Dec 13 post roll (your promise that you will NOT use nic in any form today, put your hard hat on and try not to lick the windows.

Razd -1464  Continuous days of kicking the nic bitch to the curb.
And another key element around here. Need to and want to are two different things. You must want to quit to actually succeed.

x2 on the previous notes.
