I went to post a new topic, just something to chat about....i don't know if i had really anything on my mind, but the server told me that i did not have permission....i think this site is very good for me but it can be a little frustrating to navigate through it all!
Have you started an intro thread? Do that and then you can post their until your heart's content. You can also post up questions and comments in your quit group.
Yes i started an intro thread a few days ago. Still won't allow me too...
Yeah, I don't think we're allowed to start new topics in this area. Best place to put something is in your intro or quit group. It will likely be seen by more folks there.
All quitters are also allowed to post on Quit4Today.com

If you're interested just let me know in this thread: index.php?showforum=45

You can post till your heart's content there!

What am I missing here. Where is all the talking and discussions taking place. I go to my group daily and post roll, all I see is roll for the most part.

I scan the active quit groups and 90 percent of them is strictly roll.

I go to general discussion and not a lot of activity.

I go to chat, most times nobody is in there between 8 and 5.

I just feel like I am missing a part of the site. It seems like people are talking, sharing stories, trials, successes, etc I just don't see where.
I'm really confused. How could you after 600+ days of quit not know your way around the site? Daily posting is great but why wait 600 days to start looking for more? Something curious about this.

I recently bought a "best of" book of old sports illustrated writer, Rick Reiley that is on sale on amazon and just finished reading this piece from 2002 about tobacco in mlb. I was 18 at the time and clearly remember reading this and thinking how easy it would be.for me to quit after high school was over.

I am glad I have come accross this article again as a quitter. It is pretty pathitic how little major league baseball has progressed on there stance with smokeless tobacco.

I dont know if this is the right place to post this? This site is hard to grab. Anyway, today at 14:30 i had my last dip. I started at 13 and i am now 34. I have quit in the past for a year, then Iraq came 03 and i have been dipping a can a day if not more when we are in the field. My little girl is the main reason i am quitting. She saw a movie at school and it has her worried that daddy will not be around anymore. So here to quitting!! 5 hours with no Cope and counting.

If you're looking for general non-dipping banter, you can check out the WILDCARD section: index.php?c=279746

As for in-group discussion - quite a bit of the above the fold groups are just role. It's a problem that we're trying to address and is a good problem to have... as we get more and more quitters, general "discussion" does have a tendency to get lost.

That said it's VITAL to your quit. So, it's definitely something we need to address. Just cause we're getting bigger we don't want to lose that.

SO... chat it up here, chat it up in your group. Hell come on over to my group in October 2006... we'll talk with you. We're old and curmudgeony but we're quit as hell.

Man, WILDCARD is the place to be. I honestly spend hours there daily bantering back and forth with all the quitters. Like Chewie said, if your group ain't active find one that is. January 13 is always full of fun. Check them out sometime.
You should also read some of the older quit groups, may 08, may 11 'archer' April 11, may 09, and so on. Lots of good stuff there, and you could always help those folks or by sparking up some conversation. Crusty old writers love to chat it up with newer quitters, reminds them (us) of what ewer never want to experience again. Anytime you want to pop into may 11 feel free, we will giver you more conversation than you can handle.
My favorite spot for conversation is the intros. Especially newbies searching for a way to record the suck they are experiencing. That keeps my own suck fresh in my mind and also gives me the opportunity to pay forward the advise I got early on.
Thanks for the tips guys. Guess I should have mentioned I am from Nov 11 and our group has calmed down. I did get into introduction section yesterday and started chatting with the new guys. I feel my quit is solid, but I like to stay committed to the group and help out where I can.

Just wanted to check in after a long break to say that I'm still quit. Passed the 6 month milestone recently so I checked in to see what my savings have been.

200 days, $787.50 saved

Incredible to see how much it adds up. That's gotta put me at around $1,400/year I was spending to kill myself.

Also wanted to say thanks again to this awesome community that helped me get where I am today. Could not have reformed my behavior without your support.
