howdy gents, it's time to quit again; for good!  i have been dipping forever and have quit a few times, once for years and started back.  i have tried a few times recently and only to fail rather quickly.
i need your help!!! and have a few questions.  basically, if i am awake and not eating, i have a dip in.  will nicotine gum or lozenges help or is that just substituting the delivery of the drug and will make the craving last longer?  what do y'all recommend for the oral fixation?  i've seen hooch, etc. but wanna ask what is preferred.
grizzly mint is getting ready to lose a long time customer!!
thanks,
mick
any form of nicotene is a bad idea as it is that which keeps your body and mind t continue to want to feed it that poison. Here we suscribe to the cold turkey method. So nicotene in any form is discouraged as once you stop there is the initial approx 72 hour time period to get nicotene out of your system, then its the days, weeks of re-programming yourself to function in its absence (that all we ask here is that you do it one day at a time and it will add up).

so make that decision, just quit today and come join us.
I second what Derek says... gum, patch, lozenges, etc. just prolong your addiction as they continue to introduce what you're REALLY addicted to... nicotine.

Ditch them all, and within 72 hours you'll be completely nicotine free. NOTE this does not mean you'll be "cured" in 72 hours... far from it... just nicotine free.

http://blog.killthecan.org/2012/11/its- ... ld-turkey/

As for something to deal with the oral fixation. You're in luck... there are some OUTSTANDING mint substitutes out there. Which one you'll like best is anyone's guess but my personal favorite mint subs are as follows. If you're not quite sure which one you'd like I'd suggest trying them all as it really does boil down to personal preference. There are coupons available for some of them here: http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/alternatives.asp

But regardless of which you choose, I'd STRONGLY advise to make sure you're nic free. You'll be able to truly start the healing process that much quicker.

Welcome!

I haven't posted in here for a LONG time. For whatever reason when i finished my lunch today i got hit with one of the biggest urges to throw in a dip that i have felt in a long time. The fogginess has been coming back lately as well. With that said, next week will be my 2 year anniversary of being dip free, and I can honestly say that quitting was one of the best decisions i have ever made, and KTC provided a lot of support in the early going. For those of you considering quitting just stop being a b*tch and DO IT. It really is up to you and you only. Thats all. Good luck to everyone

Even though I hate Russell Brand, this article on addiction is very telling. One day at a time, pick up the phone if you need help.

In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone.
