Just a quick observation.  If you've been around here for more than 5 minutes, you should have noticed by now as you poke around that the majority of us believe in the power of a positive, can't fail, won't fail attitude. Simply stated, there is no TRY, we DO.

With that said, why do so many quitters here choose a self-defeating user name?  I'm just curious.  "Hi, my handle is CopeLover....". Or KodiakAddict4Life.

Damn.  If you're gonna pick a name that relates to your addiction, why not pick something like "GrizzKiller". Or "SkoalSucks".  90% of the quit is mental.  Why not keep everything about it positive?

Just something I've noticed.
it's definitely an interesting thing that i've noticed too.

the only thing i can think of is that we, as addicts, associated ourselves with dip for so long that it became a part of who we were at the very core of our being... so it would be unusual for someone coming here to "think of a name to go by" that didn't have something to do with dip in it (especially in a room full of anonymous fellow dippers for the ninjas like me).

i think it'd be hard to see that username over and over again every day for years, but it might work as a painful reminder of who they WERE that allows them to never forget their quit.

dchogs (or maybe i should now be GoToFuckingHellGrizz)
It's a fascinating topic, and honestly one that I've never thought of before.

IU - Indiana University
chewie - dude that dips, Star Wars lover, etc...

As Dchogs points out, for many quitters (myself included) dipping was not only a part of our daily life, but also defined WHO we were. Not a good thing, but a fact nonetheless. As I've said before, I have people who I went to school with that quite literally don't know my real name. Certainly nothing to be proud of... just an observation.
Good points, gentlemen. I could really care less....but a cave by someone recently with such a handle got me wondering if it was part of a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts.

It matters none.....quit is quit!
Dude ... I always got the " Hairy Star Wars Geek " part of Chewie ...

never new you used to dip ...... 'crackup'
