I do not think that I am the best person to address this but it sounds like you are in a bit of a hurry for some advice....I have heard a number of people advocate the use of NON NICOTENE products to help with the withdrawl from nicotene. I believe you will find different arguments here but the bottom line is DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO TO KEEP NICOTENE OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM (PEROID).

Guys,

I need some advice. I am on day 45 of my quit (no nicotine for the entire time). My doctore is involved in my quit and gave me a couple things (none nicotine stuff) that helps. I had a bad morning, this morning--craves, anxiety and slight depression. Should I try to fight through these craves without using what the doctor gave me to take the edge off. What the doc gave me is the equivolent of a glass of wine/beer but it helps me get through! Should I feel guilty because of this? Am I avoiding the craves by lessening them?

Please some advice!

Hey guys:

Day 1 quitter, first roll posted this AM, just curious as to the herbal snuffers dips of choice. I have tried almost all of them, but my quick thoughts below:

Smokey Mountain - great taste, messy, not much of a "burn" that I enjoy from Hooch. Kind of pricey. I have two tins of their pouches that are pretty good as well.

Hooch - good stuff, love Spitfire and mixing and matching it with Classic, others. New flavor Whiskey is not bad.

Mint Snuff - hated this stuff. Hard to pack, weird, still have a tin that's over 75% full.

Jakes Mint Chew - Not bad, but hard on the gums and I didn't like the texture.

Golden Eagle - Not a fan. Really bad gritty texture, not feeling the flavors, either.

Nip the Grip - didn't really like at first, but I ordered another roll and it's actually not bad. It's weird to dip sponge, but I will keep this in the rotation.
Yoyo-

I've toyed with fake subs throughout the years and BaccOff is my herbal of choice. I was a Skoal slave, the texture and taste of BaccOff mint and wintergreen are pretty solid. Not too messy, easy to pack, I keep my extras in my basement freezer and they stay fresh that way forever. Just ordered some Hooch, not bad, flavors are a little synthetic, texture is good, packs good in your lip. My $0.02. Glad to be quit w you in the Sept 2011 group.

Hello, I'm new here and want to quit dipping. I have been reading on this site and feel like this is the place for me. Although I have already started my morning routine I have gotten rid of the junk and will attend roll call in the morning. I am looking forward to getting the help I need from this support group. Thanks in advance for the support.

A recent discussion with Romandog focused my thinking on these ideas.
(I'm also going to post this in my introduction page, but thought it would be helpful here as well.)

Over ten years ago I, along with several friends, rode my bicycle across the U.S. It was a long, delightful, and exhausting journey. To prepare for the trip we did a weekend “trial run.” We were warned ahead of time that the route for the trial run involved a rather significant hill about midway through the trip. After climbing the hill, all of us agreed that it was a bit of a challenge.

When the real ride across the country occurred, it took us about six weeks to get to this same hill that we had climbed earlier. However, now we approached the hill having ridden around one hundred miles per day for six weeks in a row. We were much stronger riders. As we approached the hill, we all sort of hunkered or geared down for the challenging climb ahead. But when we arrived at the top all of us stopped and actually laughed. Where was the hill? We had ridden up the hill with hardly a notice.

The same sort of thing happens in our quits. When a difficult day comes and we plow through it, we are strengthening our quit muscles. Through repeated exercise and determination we get stronger as we overcome each hill or obstacle. Finally, we know that we have reached a milestone when a crave comes (and threatens to make the day miserable), but instead of struggling, we laugh at it derisively. The crave has lost its power because we have become stronger quitters.

(Note: this doesnÂ’t mean that we take craves lightly or that we are impervious to failure. No, it simply means that the longer we quit, the stronger we grow, and what once was an extreme difficulty becomes a tiny obstacle in a lifetime of quit.)

Day six of kicking the can. The worst part is not being able to drink due to the intense trigger it causes me.
I'm on day 9. I've had 2 beers every night this week with supper. It actually has taken the edge off for me and helps me fall asleep. Everyone is different though.
NyQuil is a much better sleep aide and non addictive. If you are having trouble sleeping or suffering from bad nightly craves I firmly suggest it. It got me through like 3 weeks of sleepless nights and craves. Really...try to stay away from alcohol at all costs...it clouds your judgement and leaves the door cracked open for failure. I have seen too may Quits lost with the excuse that they were just too drunk to remember why but they just did it. GAURD YOUR QUITS...leave NO room for Failure!!! Great job on staying Quit!!! 6 and 9 are great together!!! 'crackup'
Sorry, but I gave up dip, I'm not about to give up my 1 Fat Tire with supper and 1 Fat Tire after supper routine. 1)It makes me feel good 2)It helps me relax and takes the edge off especially during my quit  3)If heaven was bottled and sold, it would taste like Fat Tire.
Just be careful, had a friend who gave up dip about 6 years ago because he drinks alcohol in excess now to keep the edge off.... one addiction to another for him.

Congrats on 6 days! You're right that drinking can be a tough trigger. Hang in there... there WILL be a day where you can knock back a few and not think of that little round can of death!
However, maybe you'll start to realize the colds ones you are slamming are really just...another can of death, albeit a little bigger.
