So I am at the Friends of NRA meeting last night. I am sort of on their committee so they asked if I would spot for the auctioneer. Of course I agreed. Sitting right in front of me is a young man with a big ol fatty in his lip. When we get done and people start filing out, I stop him. Handing him my card I start my usual speech on what not only can happen but what did happen.
Within a few minutes he opens up about wanting to quit and past attempts. Before we are done he hands me his can and vows today will be day one. I gave him this website and hopefully he will come in and ask for help. He is a VERY dependant addict.
The reason I am sharing this is so all of you will know. Whether you reach them or not, you will never know unless you appraoch a user and engage them. I have been rebuffed many times. A friend of mine was at the banquet last night and he stood there with his dip while I talked to this other guy. I have been working on my friend for 3 years. Maybe someday he will see. I only hope it's not too late when he does.
