Day 2 cold turkey. I chewed Grizzly Wintergreen Longcut for 12 years. I did a can a day. I am turning 30 next month and decided it was time to save myself while I still could. This is brutal! My heart is pounding, I can't focus at all. Even writing this is a daunting task it seems. But I'm confident and I know this will get better. My gums and lip feel smooth though, that's something new! I welcome all support!!!
You got the support man!! Swim your way through the fog, devour the wisdom in these pages, post EVERY day, and hang in there. Are you posting with your group?

Any one else get real tired after the first day with out dip?
Without a doubt! You're used to relying on it every day as an addictive crutch. When you finally but the "crutch" away, your legs begin working muscles that they're not used to working. Just drink plenty of water and work out/run if you keep feeling this way. Don't worry... It gets better... Embrace the suck!

Hello all. Finishing off day 4 cold turkey. Was a 1-2 can a day Grizzley wintergreen chewer for 9 years. Was doing pretty good up until today. Seems like everything I do triggers a craving. Part of my brain keeps telling me have one pinch then throw the rest of the can away. But I love not having the death breath, my mouth hurting, and forking out 5 to 10 dollars a day. Gotta stay strong!!
Oregon Rut, get strong my friend!!! You will be amazed at how many things dip has taken over. You can do this!!!
You can do it bro! I'm checking in after a long time on this site. This site saved me, stay with it and stay on here everyday. This is my 1797th nicotine free day. You can do it.

Last chew in right now. Have tried many times to quit but life keeps coming back. Today is the day!
we have pretty basic rules here maddog, and one is... you cant be on this site with a chew in. kinda makes sense if you stop and think about it.

get that one down and we can work on the remainder of what this place expects of you.
I understand. Was just surfing for help and came across this and thought i would post and check it out. Sorry for breaking the rule. It's all done and gone from here on out
Nice job posting roll. Now let's do this!

First post on here-
I have had one rub in the last two days, my one was yesturday and have went all day without one. I've become so sick it's not funny. I was rubbing 2 to 3 cans a day before this. I'm dizzy, hot and cold, my body just aches, and my body just feels weak. Not trying to act like a wuss but should I try to wean myself off or is cold turkey the way to go? Also I ordered smokey mountain any input on that?
Smokey mountain is a fuckin' life saver. I highly recommend it...especially on long drives, fishing, sitting around watching tv. It's been a big time catalyst in helping me quit.

I think tapering off is pretty effective...I set a quit date, and tapered off starting three weeks before my quit. I think it helped immensely.
^^^ Nope....

Pull that fucking band-aid and man up! It is going to suck, your body is craving nicotine and the poison in chew, it is messing with your mind.
Keep quit and in 3-7 days the SUCK will be over but tapering and your will have to do it again in a couple days.
Drink gallons of water, work out, steam room, and get the poison out of your system.
Get some fake chew, seeds and gum, anything to help your stay quit.
I'm not the world's genius when it comes to quitting so take my opinion for what it's worth....I'd say gather all the knowledge you can and read like a son' bitch. I'd also agree that ripping the band-aid off all at ounce is probably one of the best ways to tackle this mother fucker, but whatever way you get yourself quit is the right way.
Lastaddiction you offered good advice, keep the quit strong! I tappered down for years before my quit, it doesn't work. I went from Cope to pouches, then I did pouches 24/7, so that didn't help... I got Nic gum and tried to quit but I was only supplementing my chewing habit. Another good one was, I will quit after this can or after the weekend, or my birthday, or my son's birthday...
The nic bitch is sneaky, they only way to beat her is cold turkey...

Sometimes Nic is more insidious than obvious. A private addiction can be the hardest to break. Thanks for sharing and remember to quit everyday.
