Excellent post!
credit must be given to my fellow dec 13 brothers for finding the first two articles.
Curt should come visit.
Good read! Thanks for sharing!!! Getting the majors to do the right thing and ban dip would be a step in the right direction and would remove some of the "glamor" smokeless currently has with young people.
Tough times don't last. Tough people do.

That's sad that the first article is in 1998. The second article (when he finally stops) is in 2005. Who knows what's happened in the last so many years? HE HAD HIS WAKEUP CALL 16 YEARS AGO!

Prayers.
Did he quit in 2005? I thought he caved after that, too.
Honestly, outside of these walls...would it surprise you?

His story is nothing new. Hell, do a google search on "Curt Schilling, Chewing Tobacco". You'll find articles galore about how he "kicked the habit" in 1998.

Then, there is nothing.

Then, he "stopped" in spring training 2005.

There is no more press on it until today.

Would it surprise you that he hid it like we did? That he fell to the same demons we see others fall to here because they don't take this seriously? That his body rejected the abuse he subjected it to for years?

Nah...Curt is an addict that hasn't seen the light. Hopefully he will one day, and hopefully the catcher drops the ball here giving him a chance to leg one out to first. But that's just not in his control anymore, is it?

There's a reason we quit, and there's a method to the madness here. We can't forget, and we shouldn't forget.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. I get to go down this path one time, I want to do it right. I recognize that my word, my integrety to you is on the line and is only as good as my actions. Caving is not an option in this plan-Eafman 7/11

I am not cured. I will quit one day at a time. I will continue to do what works. Posting roll everyday. To do otherwise would be foolish on my part. You can do this-Ready 12/11

To overcome your addiction you must comprehend what it means to fail-Razd 3/12

Theres a lot of people that come here, especially vets, that WANT to be reminded that they are addicts.-Tarpon 6/12

Just as a building starts with architectural drawings. Your daily quit begins with a promise.-Scowick 2/13

Here and now, focused on today, minute by minute, whatever it takes, I promise to all my bros and myself not to become a negative stat and stay quit!-krok 1/15

Nolaq nailed it on the head. I almost feel guilty that Curt doesn't know about this site. Proof that money can't buy you a quit. Good luck Curt and thanks again KTC.

Congratz on your quit bro, but April 2014 is your quit group. When you go to the quit groups page just scroll down and look for pre HOF April 2014

I'll pm you as well

Tony,

I have planned quit dates every few weeks for the last year to no avail and 17 days ago I finally made the commitment to myself after stumbling onto this site. ON THE SPOT, I promised to never have another dip again. These guys are right, Quit now with us TODAY and you will have quit that many more days by your set quit date. Yeah its scary as hell. Yeah the cravings are intense for a while. But chances are if you quit today, you won't die from cancer.

Just think about this. say your planned quit date falls through and 6 months from now you go to the dentist and he says you have mouth cancer. You have a year to live and if you're lucky you might just have your jaw cut out.. What if that cancer started forming within the next few days and could have totally been prevented if you quit today. imagining that scared the shit out of me. JUST QUIT. do it for yourself, I imagine you like being alive.

You're here on the forum already, post up roll in the morning and promise yourself you wont use.
Shit I found reasons or excuses for one more for 40 years. It's all a lie, one more just leads to another one more! Quit now with me.

Tony,

Trust these guys, they know what they are talking about. If you really want to quit, now is the time. Not some 'comfort date' you pick in the future. I can guaran-danm-tee you that when Monday rolls around, you're going to have a harder time quitting than if you start now.

I'm not telling you this to sound like some kind of quit expert. I'm telling you because I was there, in your shoes, many times....and each time I failed. The day I joined KTC I had almost two full sleeves of Kodiak in my possession and a mind that was chock full of 'comfort dates' that were out in the future about as far as those two sleeves were gonna last me. My previous attempts at quitting all failed on or shortly after my 'quit date'.

27 days ago, I threw away those two sleeves of poison, all empty cans, spitters, and even cleaned that crap out of the upholstery of my car. Was I scared shitless? You bet. I felt cold (literally, like up my spine cold), alone, and uncertain about whether I would be strong enough to finally quit.....but I prevailed and so can you.

All of the tools you will ever need to quit can be found, or developed here. Send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number. I will help you start TODAY, and you will have all of these fine folks here behind you all the way.

(Updated) Decided to be proactive and send you a PM. You have my number. Call me when you're ready.
ITS SIMPLE......QUIT NOW OR DIE !!
