Just found this forum and am really excited for years assistance. I dip Copenhagen straight long cut and I have for a long time. I have used chantix twice and it worked for awhile but the. The cravings returned.  I actually made it a little over a month the last time. But the cravings are back and I am dipping a little here and there now.

Does anyone know of any of these fake dips that actually taste like any of the Copenhagen dips?  Regular or straight?  I would greatly appreciate any feedback. I have tried the fake stuff in the past and it was god awful.

Thanks.
You did better than some! I am on the end of day 2. Day 3 starts in 34min. I suggest reading the reviews on the KTC site. They are pretty good. I just ordered a few cans of the "Hooch" to help my lip have something to do. If you make up your mind to do it this time, you can! You have to keep up your motivation level everyday and pretty much kick your own ass not to run down to the store to grab just "one lil can". About 20 min ago, I just sat through a 45 min screaming session from a 3 month old with a heart condition being held by a woman who is being visited by her "aunt". Holy Cow, i was about to pull my hair out, jump out of my skin and go absolutely ballistic!!

Point being, the whole time, I kept thinking of the members here who have really lifted me up and encouraged me and how disappointed they would be if I "tripped". It really holds you accountable man. I am sorry for rambling. Wanted to offer my suggestions on "fake dip" and then just got caught up :D As always, when you get ready to quit, you won't regret it! PM me if I can help at all

Thanks Mogul, lipizzanner, slug.go and shmuffinman! Your encouragement saved me $2.84 and a bottom lip.

Well in 3 days I hit 1,200 days. wow, it has been a wide crazy ride - friends made, friends lost, quitters stay, quitters go. I believe in paying it forward and I have done that in the past. On Wednesday - I will hit 1,200 days. I will donate $5 for every post in february 2011 that mentions FFF - February Felllowship of the Free. I will do it up to $1,200.
In awe, my friend.

I've made the commitment to throw the can away.  From what I've heard this site is a great outlet for talking about the trials of quitting this nasty habit.  Any advice will help...thank you.
You will not regret it. Go post your intro. Read all you can...dive into the hall of fame speeches, and post roll with the group you would be with (I think it would be the May of 2013). There is no better time then now. Do it.
Yes Bradleyguy you are in May 14 quit group. I have posted your name to roll call as a day 1.

Hello Quitters,
I am changing jobs so my phone number will be changing. The number you have for me is no longer good. It now belongs to the new maintenance guy at AFI. I will send out my new number soon.
Thanks

Strike 1

Strike 2

Strike 3?
Excellent post!
credit must be given to my fellow dec 13 brothers for finding the first two articles.
Curt should come visit.
Good read! Thanks for sharing!!! Getting the majors to do the right thing and ban dip would be a step in the right direction and would remove some of the "glamor" smokeless currently has with young people.
Tough times don't last. Tough people do.

That's sad that the first article is in 1998. The second article (when he finally stops) is in 2005. Who knows what's happened in the last so many years? HE HAD HIS WAKEUP CALL 16 YEARS AGO!

Prayers.
Did he quit in 2005? I thought he caved after that, too.
Honestly, outside of these walls...would it surprise you?

His story is nothing new. Hell, do a google search on "Curt Schilling, Chewing Tobacco". You'll find articles galore about how he "kicked the habit" in 1998.

Then, there is nothing.

Then, he "stopped" in spring training 2005.

There is no more press on it until today.

Would it surprise you that he hid it like we did? That he fell to the same demons we see others fall to here because they don't take this seriously? That his body rejected the abuse he subjected it to for years?

Nah...Curt is an addict that hasn't seen the light. Hopefully he will one day, and hopefully the catcher drops the ball here giving him a chance to leg one out to first. But that's just not in his control anymore, is it?

There's a reason we quit, and there's a method to the madness here. We can't forget, and we shouldn't forget.
I found it interesting that the article didn't mention and Curt isn't sharing the type of cancer or his prognosis. Doesn't seem to bode well, but that is all speculation.

The most telling line in the article for me was this

"Joe, I never thought it would happen to me; I always thought it would happen to the other guy," he told Garagiola. "Guess what? I'm the other guy."

Powerful stuff
And now Spock is biting the big one due to tobacco and he quit 30 years ago it says.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/07/showbiz/c ... ?hpt=hp_t2
So he did stop for a few years, took a pinch from a 'friend' @ a golf tournament so I read.
Unleashed the lion, imagine it would be different if he posted here.
I met Curt. A good friend suffered from ALS,dude donated his time,a jersey, signed and met with him as well. Still sends a check towards a scholarship in his name.'It's the hardest thing I've ever done'he said when asked about quiting.
Gents think about the discipline it takes to be a professional athlete, then think about what it takes to give your word. Pretty much a wash don't ya think.Perhaps the press coverage will reach the youngsters, give them pause, open some eyes.Hopefully MLB will ban this shit, and his peers will realize they too are pissing their lives away.Fight the fight Curt, god bless.
I seem to remember an article in SI he did in 04 or 05, where he was talking about everything his wife has gone through with skin cancer. The reporter made mention that Curt was in the training room and was spitting into a little paper cup. He also mentioned that the irony of the situation wasn't lost on Curt and that Curt acknowledged he had to quit.

I'm a BoSox fan, and I've always admired Schilling's tenacity as an athlete. But it is hard to reconcile that admiration with someone who knowingly jeopardized his health, and knowingly subjected himself to a higher risk of cancer, while spouting off on the dangers of skin cancer.
I know he's always been a supporter of ALS charities, too. But it does come off as disingenuous.

Regardless, I wish death nor cancer on anyone. I wish him well. If it is oral/throat/stomach cancer, I hope he steps up again and gives the world the truth they need to hear and Comes clean about his habit and its contribution to his disease.
Quit with you. Quit for my sons.
