Epic.

yeah my hardest days were 101 - 150. Geez. It was like day 1 all over again. So glad i found this place and the quitters herein. Newbies and Vets alike.
Man, I didn't need to hear that on my day 5.
Take it in stride. Worry about Day 150 on day 150.
Amen PKY.

Sorry Grizzly, didnt mean to alarm you. Trust me there was some great easy days from 5 to 101.. really easy days for me anyway. Everyone is different. My tough days came later, some come early.

I think what happened to me is common, - post HOF Let down. I had a goal to make 100 and i made it and thought "Really? Is this all there is?"
Guess I was expecting some sort of Eureka moment once I reached HOF.

After I lingered through the 100-150 the light bulb went off for me, - ' get your ass back into Introductions and General Discussions and encourage the newbies, help guide someone transitioning from lurker to joining to posting to milestones.'

Once I started doing that and satisfaction followed (and still follows to this day) I try and find a newbie, reach out, text, PM, support them EDD on roll. Then as they get to HOF I feel so damn good its almost like I AM GOING INTO HOF every time. Dude sometimes I get to the HOF a few times a week, how great is that??

Total satisfaction

Im not the baddest ass quitter on this site, I could come here more often, I could join live chat (not my thing), I could be more active, post in more groups, but I do what I can when i can. I am a small part of success of a small but growing number of quitters here, and man when these quitters reach milestones, those are my eureka moments!

Quit on!!!

I can't wait till I get there. I'm at day 35 and I'm having the day 1 thoughts bro it's difficult. It's easy yet difficult at the same time. It is a war within me. I am completely confident that I will not take a dip yet I still think about it hard the past week. Got to keep on keepin' on.
It gets better. I promise you the days get much easier. HOWEVER, I think you'd be better off if you changed your mindset in 2 very important ways. First, don't worry about getting "there." There is no "there." Every single day you are a quit is a day of freedom from slavery to nicotine. You are no more quit at 1,000 than at 35. Don't look too far into the future because that can become unmanageable. A single day is always always manageable if you use the tools this site has to offer.

The second thing is looking back on day 1 should be encouraging to you not making it more difficult. Day 1 is the single worst day of your quit. That day you were a broken, down and out, addict. Then you took the power back. Don't ever forget how badly you felt physically, emotionally and psychologically that day. Every day you put between you and that day is a day that you controlled your addiction instead of the other way around. If you don't forget how bad it was when you got here, you're much less likely to go back to posting another day 1.

If you tweak the mindset just a bit, you will have even more power and motivation to see to it that today is not the day you break your promises to this house of bad asses.
"Fuck nicotine dude. You don't need it. And you don't want it. It didn't do a thing for you and you know it." - worktowin
"today you dissided that shit wont control your life. and it wont. unless you let it." - drome
"Not thinking about nicotine is for people who've never used nicotine. We threw that option away with the first dip or drag on a cigarette. We are addicts, and cannot become un-addicted." - wildirish317
"You need to decide how much you really want to be quit." - pky1520
We are always at risk. And probably always will be. That is why I will never get "too quit" to post my +1. Every. Damn. Day. - geis2597

Is this the place to share random "WTF was that all about" stories? I sure hope so because I've got a good one. Buckle up buckaroos...

So I'm sitting at my house this evening indoctrinating my 2 year old godson into the good movies I grew up on (Space Jam, 90s Disney movies, the works) when I get a call from an old friend about DDing. I figured I'd help her out since little man would be asleep long before the bars closed. 12:40 rolls around so I quietly slip away and head downtown.

As I pull into downtown I see a couple city PD cars parked with their lights on; nothing out of the ordinary for closing time. By the time I make it 2 blocks the count was up to 10 squad cars, so I knew something was up. The girls hop in bawling and too drunk to give a good account other than "SHIT GOT CRAZY" so I dropped them off at their apartment, started their coffee pot for them and headed out so I could get a better story.

One of my childhood buddies is a deputy sheriff in town so I gave him a call. He didn't answer at first so I figured he had the night off, but when he called back 10 minutes later I knew we were in business. Turns out he was one of the many (25 units by his count) that responded. Apparently some drunk idiot got into it with another drunk idiot and fired his gun in the air. To make matters worse, he and his friends got mouthy with the cops when they showed up.

Apparently the guy that fired the gunshot had his CC license, so I'm curious- to those of you licensed to carry, are there certain places you can't carry? I would imagine this would be the case and surely bars are on the list of no no locations.
Not sure except in my state where you can CC, some places e.g. movie theaters post signs that no guns are allowed. I know you can't carry onto government sites too.

Um, did you leave a two year old at home by themselves?
Noooo no definitely not. Since I'm headed back to school and my roommate went and got married I'm with my parents for a few months, so one of them sat with him.
I figured but I am always happy to risk offending someone for the sake and welfare of a child. Crazy story, crazy world. This is why I like to stay home. :ermm:

Read it, makes sense, but tell me Chewie - what is it like down the road? Feel normal again?

Also, what does "+1" mean?

Thanks veteran bro.
Yep, totally normal. I can honestly tell you it's been years since I've had anything that I'd consider a crave. Freedom from that little can is a glorious thing.

+1 is a way for us to remind ourselves that we just quit today. Just today. Plus one day.

Tomorrow is another +1 and before you know it you've got a pile of them.

Anyone else experience unquenchable thirst after quitting? It's my 27th day and all day today and yesterday I have drank lots of water but still felt thirst intensely. The type of thirst where you can feel your mouth salivating. The type of thirst that only really milk and water will quench. Wondering if anyone else has experienced anything of the sort or if my body just needed liquids lately lol.
For sure. I nailed water like crazy the first few months after quitting.
Agreed. I drank more than a gallon of water a day for months.
Every. Damn. Day. - geis2597
