You will get it back - it might be a few days but you will get your ability to function back.

The cool thing is, the brain you get back won't demand that you pump chemicals into it every few hours.

But yeah man, I'd recommend informing co-workers of the quit and just let them know the next week or so is going to be atypical.

It will be worth it

Alright day 4 here and I feel like I am mentally handicapped. Literally a task at work which should have taken me 30-40 minutes, took me almost 3 hours. I know that this is part of the fog and the brain rewire process but holy shit! Please someone tell me I'll get my brain back?!?

The best piece of advice that I can give you is to dump all of the nicotine gum and go cold turkey. Nicotine replacement is just a different form of the same drug. I'm sorry if that seems like a waste of money, but look at it this way, it's the last money you will ever have to waste on nicotine!

The way that you use this site is to find your quit group and to post a daily promise not to use any nicotine product. You quit one day at a time and track those days - called posting Roll. If you toss your gum and quit for real today, your group will be August 2017 (August because that is when you'll cross 100 days, considered Hall of Fame). All of the folks in that group will be within several days of you and will understand exactly what you're going through.

This system might sound a little silly, but I promise you that it works. If you are willing to dig in and follow the program here, I guarantee you can be quit. It just depends on how much you want this for yourself.

Hi Cliff. Last week was hell for me. Hot flashes. Sweating. Rage outbursts. Depression. Insomnia . Today is day 8 for me after 20 plus years. This support system has been so awesome at KTC. I would be in your august quit group if you decide you're ready to get rid of all nicotine buddy.
Dipped for a long time myself. Now I am quit for 1,160 days and loving it. You will never regret quitting.

Glad to see you here on KTC brother. The best thing to do is rip that tape off and quit cold turkey! All that nicotine gum does is keep the nic bitch around. I too had soreness in my gums right before I quit, that is one of the reasons I quit. This place is awesome for support, you just need to throw everything that contains nicotine out and take the plunge. Quit for the next 24 hours, wake up and do it again. Head on over to the introduction section and introduce yourself after you flush everything.

Touchy subject when it comes to banning.

On one hand, I totally agree with you that there's no place for dip within our national past time.

On the other, I'm a firm believer that every man should make his own choice and shouldn't have choice legislated for him.

ALL of that said, if MLB wants to ban it, they've got every right to. They are the employer. They can ban their employees from using tobacco in their place of employment. If they're gonna do it they should just do it and get it done with. I'm guessing they're worried about the players union, but any blow back they get from the players will be more than made up for by goodwill from the public.

I know MLB is trying to do something, banning in certain parks... but man, its beyond time for them to ban that shit completely. Nothing good comes from using dip. zero.

Stop Big Tobacco From Luring Kids

By Friday April 28th, 2017, Congress must vote on a spending bill to keep the government open. Tobacco companies are working to insert two provisions that would make it much harder for the FDA to protect kids from candy-flavored e-cigarettes and cigars.

One provision exempts existing e-cigarettes and cigars from a health and safety review by the FDA. The other exempts certain cigars from regulation completely.

Please call your members of Congress and ask them to keep these provisions out of the spending bill.

Comments due for smokeless tobacco July 10
FRANKFORT, Ky.
— Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles announced the comment period for a proposed federal regulation on smokeless tobacco products has
been extended from April 10 to July 10, according to a report in The Daily Independent of Ashland, Ky.
“This proposed rule would have a devastating economic impact on dark tobacco growers and businesses in Kentucky,” Quarles said. “If enacted, it would have the
effect of banning the sale of smokeless tobacco in the United States. I urge anyone who has an interest to send your comments to Washington and let your voice
be heard.”

In a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price earlier this month, he asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to withdraw the proposal. Quarles said the FDA did not accurately estimate the economic impact of the proposed rule. The proposal would limit the N-Nitrosonornicotine level in finished smokeless tobacco products to 1 part per million.
Quarles suggested stakeholders be brought together to create a new standard that is realistic and achievable and would not create a devastating economic impact.
Kentucky led the nation in production of dark firecured and dark air-cured tobacco in 2015 at 31.7 million pounds and 13.75 million pounds, respectively. To read

Im inspired by you chew quitters! Its all in the mind and easier said than done but when i think of how wierd it is that the urge is so personal and so human, it makes it sort of shed away and make it seem so unimportant, which it is. Or sometimes to help me i'll think of it like maybe if you KNEW 1000% chance if you did choose to have one more dip that you'd get mouth cancer the next day, there's no way you'd still have a dip. It wouldnt be worth it. How many times have you quit and then had a dip and it just made you feel like SHIT? Ive done that countless times. Hope this helps someone. It's not worth it. I'll quit forever if you quit forever. You have my word.

Nearly 100% of quitters go through some sort of weird symptoms early on. Mouth  throat pain are extremely common. It's most likely your body's response to extreme stress and anxiety about quitting. When you take a drug away, your brain is going to respond.

I'd really encourage you to start posting in the July 2017 quit group. Everyone there is within a few weeks of your quit date and they will be able to relate to what you're going through and share their advice.

They will also hold you accountable, which is the key to quitting successfully. The General Discusson page doesn't get a lot of traffic, so only posting here means that you're missing out on the most useful parts of this site. Let me know if I can help.

Went to the ent yesterday he said he didn't see anything to worry about he said most the places in my mouth were due to biting my lip because of anxiety I sure hope he was right he wants me back in 2 months for a check up, most of the crazy feelings I was having went away after he told me that haha, anyway I'm on day 8 and feeling great!

Sitting at work now all I think about is a dip after eating my lunch. Only time will make these cravings go away. Thanks all for the support.
Drink lots of water Neil, you're doing great. Dip never did anything for you (despite what the addict part of your brain is telling your right now). You don't need a dip after lunch just like when you were a baby you didn't need one after you ate. Your body wasn't meant to be ingesting that weed, you just trained your body to accept it. It takes work, but now you have to train it to accept the fact that you will not be dipping today. Just take it one day at a time. Don't worry about tomorrow because you can't do anything with it until it gets here.

My recommendation would be to join your quit group here on the forums: July 2017.

You will reach 100 days quit with that group. They are going through the same things you are right now and can lend you a helping hand when you need it and give you a swift kick in the ass when you need that too. This site works because of that brotherhood and accountability. Keep up the good work, I promise you it will be worth it.
