I see a couple of you guys are crazy haha. I had 100% post rate for a while, but it hit a point where it no longer done anything for me. That, and I didnt have enough time to post to really make any relationships with anyone, like many do. But, in thruhiking there's a saying to hike your own hike, well that's what I did with quitting. I quit my own quit. However, this site helped through the most difficult first 20 or so days. This is why I came back to offer my number, since I feel I could help a new quitter.
BTW- My life is harder now than before, trust me haha. Just happy to be quit and making better choices.

Sincerely,

Yeah, we are "crazy". Stfu.

You are clueless. You THINK you are helping, but your really not. And you know what, personally I don't have a huge problem if you don't want to help. Just don't front like you are.

Don't come in here and shit on our floor by telling us posting role really didn't do anything for you and you didn't have time to do it and build relationships. Wtf is that bullshit? What do you think a new quitter might think when he reads that shit?

What exactly have you been doing where you are soooooo busy you can't take a minute or two a day to post roll or encourage a few guys who might be struggling?

You offer up your phone number every 3 months...great. what if your "too busy" to help someone in need out? What, you have time to help people by phone but not on here? What if 15 newbs take you up on your offer and get your number...and say 7 or 8 are REAAALLLYYY struggling and reaching out to you on a daily basis? Will you have time to help them, or will be be so busy splitting the atom, curing cancer, and bringing about world peace
that you will get back to them in 3 months?

You're a walking contradiction.

You want to hike your own hike, that's cool. Just walk it alone and don't front like you want to help others learn to hike.

You can't be a little bit pregnant, and you can't be a little bit committed to helping people kick an addiction as brutal as this one.

We aren't crazy, we're committed.

Well done no matter what, be true to you and stay quit. As CBird65, told me when I joined, It's an open forum, take what you need and leave the rest. It's only about the quit.
So, if you don't have time to come here and post roll, how do we know that you'll have time to help out those new quitters that stumble upon this to do it the "MCR way"?

What is the "MCR way"?

Q: Why are KTC quitters so damn inflexible?

It usually goes something like this: “Hey guys, Scowick here, just had a 2nd kid and I promised my wife I would quit with my first child. So, anyway I posted for 20 days, blah, blah, blah."
Kaaabooom! The flames of hell burn.

Q: Why are KTC quitters so damn inflexible?
A: Addiction is inflexible.

The Law of Addiction States, “The administration of a drug to a drug addict will reestablish dependence on that drug.” We did not write the law. We do not execute the law. We simply know the law. This means, by using nicotine once, the user either reverts to full-fledged use or must go through the full withdrawal process associated with quitting. Most do not opt for the withdrawal. Withdrawal sux.

I know, this inflexibility is incongruent with our American culture ~ “I'd like the pie heated and I don't want the ice cream on top, I want it on the side, and I'd like strawberry instead of vanilla if you have it, if not then no ice cream just whipped cream but only if it's real; if it's out of the can then nothing.”
“Not even the pie”?
“No, I want the pie, just not heated”.

Here, at KTC, the quit plan is not tweaked for unique and special butterflies. We butterflies conform to the plan. Why? Because our addiction will not conform. Our addiction is unyielding.

I think you should go somewhere else if your going to spread that kind of negativity. No one's asking for you to kiss anyone's ass but have a little common courtesy and respect for fellow addicts on this site who are struggling. This site works by fellow quitters supporting each other...and that includes positive updates you fuck. I had it out with CleanFuel this weekend but at least he was trying to help in his own fucked up way.....but you; what a douche
You need to read a little more and learn what this place is all about, you fuck! I respect anyone who post a promise everyday, you fuck! Who is there helping other new people like yourself quit, you fuck! Who is there for me when I need them, you fuck! Maybe you need to focus on your quit a little more and quit worrying about what a bad ass quitter "CleanFuel" and myself are, you fuck!
If you want to write an update post it in your journal for your mom to read!
*Also if you would please not use bad words on this site

Thanks

I totally get Wake's point. It's harsh but it's true.

While I am glad mcr is still quit, where the hell has he been??

Mcr has been quit 102 days and has 42 posts. Yet Screw has been quit like 8 days and has 47 posts.

Like Derek said. This is a BROTHERHOOD.
I'm right there with Wake, Derek, and Diesel. When I first joined the site, a lot of the bitching about roll call and getting numbers from your fellow bros pissed me off. I thought I was my own man and that I didn't have to fall in line, lock-step with everyone else. I especially hated the commonly used, "you're not a special butterfly" line that pops up in every intro thread at some point.

So Bigby and ScrewtheChew, I get it. Why hate on someone who did it. The hallowed 100 day mark! It's because I have been around long enough to see the second floor. I've seen the flaky members of my group slowly fall off the wagon. By now the only people left, about 12 out of 30 something, are the ones who post every day and offer support to their brothers and one sister. I guarantee everyone in my group has the number of someone else. We're one big interwoven web. That's for the benefit of the other guy just as much as for yourself. By stoppin in once in a while to say hi, mcr has cheated himself and his quit group out of more link in the chain.

I take this seriously and so should you. You have to make it a lifestyle. Ingraine it in your mind that roll is a daily promise.
Bravo!

You hit the nail on the fucking head man.

This site is about quitting, and I fucking hate nicotine. I applaud anybody that has the courage to quit it (including those that don't post here).

So, congrats mcr. I'm glad you've made it this far on your own. Statistically, you are at a disadvantage to those of us that are here of staying quit. Luckily, you are welcome to begin posting regularly and raise those chances immensely.

Anybody can stop for a short time period.

It takes some balls to call your shot and make sure you stay quit. If you don't believe me, catch me in days. I dare you.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. Mr. Skoal, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Wow! It's a shame that we can bear each others' burdens, but are criticized when we share in victory. Haters have to hate for some reason that's beyond me. Good frickin job MCR207! There. I said it. Don't listen to anyone who wants to piss on the parade. Fuckers.
Question...and really think about this before popping off...would this site work if it was a bunch quitters posting their "updates" every three months?

Again, I'm glad Mcr is still quit, but don't you think that in those 102 days quit he could have helped some people with their quit? I'm sure he has learned a lot in those 102 days, and to not pay it forward at least a little is kind of weak. I know it's not the law that he HAS to help others and post zillion times, but come on. Help some newbies out!

The guy goes two and a half months between posts and then just pops in all happy and chipper to fill us in on his quit. Like we have been waiting with baited breath for HIS update. Truth is everyone has forgotten about the guy. A lof of shit has gone down in here over the last 2 and a half months. I doubt anyone has been thinking "gee, I wonder what mcr has been up too."

One last time, I am glad he is still quit and I really don't have a problem with him using the site to keep himself quit. Just don't pop in every 3 months and tell us how great your life is, if you can't stop by more often and share some of the reasons why it's so great, with guys who are struggling to get off the ground. And if you do, don't expect to be greeted with high fives and hugs, when you are just gonna disapear again like a fart in the wind.

Oh do I need to laugh.

Below yes we see a difference of opinion, but we also have the definition for how KTC works.

Wake hit the Hall in Dec 12 and had a 99% posting rate (per the spreadsheet). Mcr who has also hit the hall, had a 62% posting rate. (Both of these in the first 100 days).

Now in looking at the number of posts we see 347 versus 42.

I only throw out these numbers as the golden rules of KTC are the 3 main words of Brotherhood, Accountability and Success.

Wake is responding, and I fully agree that in this case the Success is still there, but without the Brotherhood and the Accountability; the interacting with fellow quitters and the giving of our daily word early to one another, the full concept of this site is not being followed.

In the same way that we provide our word early in the day and then honor it, we do not post when the day is over to celebrate it, and that MCR, is what I feel you have done.

I too say nice job on getting the 100 days. I just wish you would take into advisement those other 2 words at this time as I have seen to many like you show back up with posting a Day 1 in a new month. Its education my friend, and if you are not around have you learned.

good times

Hey fellas, hope everyone's quit is going good. I just thought I would jump on and give an update on the quit! Luckily, I'm still quit for 102 in real life. However, my dream self still struggles often with skoal wintergreen haha.

My quit has opened up a lot of changes for me. I'm taking care of myself better overall, started running, and picking up new habits/hobbies (reading, codinglol) and actually sticking with it by taking it bit by bit and a day at a time. Definitely something I learned here and on my quit.

Anyway, its good stuff. If anyone needs a quitter to get or stay quit with just yell at me and I'll send you my number.
