Glad you found us boys.
Welcome Josh to the best of your life. You've got the right attitude, KTC has the right tools. Get your insurance like Kubiak says...it feels sooooooo good to wake every a.m. post roll, keep my word, wake and repeat.
Come on in, the water is fine. The KTC kool-aid is sweet.
Keeping my jaw and tongue...I like them.

Hey screw you... i just wanted to say that. No seriously, you're on the right path. Let me tell you about something I call "quit insurance". I'm at 479 days, which seems like a lot, but really it's not. Five years is a lot. In fact, five years ago, I quit for 1.5 years, on my own. But when things got shitty, I ran to the can. Here at KTC though, I start every day with a promise, to myself and others, that I won't dip. It's my reminder that I have to quit every damn day. And it's also my insurance... I could try to do this on my own, now that I'm almost a year and a half again, but why take the chance? Why not post a promise every day, that takes 5 minutes tops, for some insurance? You're doing the right thing, keep it up.
Thanks Kubiak,

It's good to know I'm not the only asshole that caved at 4+ years. It's also great to know there is a solution to getting past the 4 year mark. I look forward to posting everyday!

Hello all,

This is my 2nd introduction.  I went through 5 years ago and then caved.  I'm now 32 with 2 boys (One 8 and one 2) and am happily married.  I am a Web Systems Manager for a well known website.  I'm still living in Flagstaff and still rooting for my cowboys.
I'm posting in here the 3 questions that were asked of me when I came back.  I have changed these from my original answers based on the feedback I got from my new group.  So here goes:

1. what happened?
I have a buddy that can chew whenever he wants. He will chew 1/2 a can one evening while throwing back a few beers. Then he won't chew for a month, then chew once a week. and not do it for 2 months. It doesn't phase him one bit. I thought I could do this after 4+ years. I thought I could control it. Within a month I found out that was not the case and became full blown addicted again.

2. why did it happen?
I'm not going to try to make any excuses as to why it happened. It was a mistake and all I can do is right the mistake.

3. what are you going to do different to make sure it doesn't happen again?
This time around I'm going to continue to post to roll call through my full 100 days.  Last time I did 30 and thought it was good enough.  I am also going to continue posting after my 100 days as often as I can.  I will also provide support for others and continue to stay engaged in the site long after I make the 100 day HOF!  I will reach out to more people and try to get to know them better rather than just using the site for my own needs.
I bolded the parts that I have quibbles with. First, more than a mistake, choosing to use nicotine is a dumb/bad/self-destructive choice. Focusing on the choice aspect will help you recognize that your quit is in your control. There are no accidents here. Second, when you get involved here, I think you'll find that you get more back than you put in. That is, you can pay it forward and back for your own selfish reasons, and it's all good.

Finally, is the "well known website" in Arizona Backroom Casting Couch? You have to tell us if it is.
Welcome back. I would not deal in absolutes on when you start stop posting roll. Why so firm on just 100. You did 30 last time and that failed. I'd look at this differently. Post roll EDD. Become involved. Exchange numbers with fellow quitters. Give back. Focus on this Quit ODAAT. Don't just pull the rip cord at 100. Stay until you need to stay. This is not a simple equation that you can just say 100 days and I'm cured. If it was... You would not be ringing the front doorbell at KTC for permission to re enter. QLF brother!
Thanks for the tips guys. I'm not putting any limit on the number of days I'm going to hit roll call. I'm just gonna keep doing it!

How did you know it was ABCC oneimpressiveball? LOL, I live in AZ and hadn't heard about that website. That's some pretty fucked up shit! Thanks for the encouragement guys.

Well you and I have no history so our sleights are clean. Welcome back to the fight.

You know the drill so not much to advise you on. I am 616 today and still posting. Posting roll has become a routine like brushing my teeth. It is a daily treatment like anti-biotics. It keeps my addiction in remission.

Get used to the daily promise. It doesn't hurt and its so valuable to an addict.

Hey all,
The names Josh and i live in good 'ol Flagstaff AZ. I'm 27 and have been chewing since about the age of 16. I've quit a couple times for a few months but ended up going back. I've had some minor pain in my neck lately. I'm pretty sure it's nothing but it was enough to make me think, hey what if. I have a finance and 3 year old son. Last night I dumped the can in the toilet and let it rip! My fiance does not know I'm quitting but will find out soon enough. I'm a Sys Admin for a good company and usually chew at work, that's when I decided to surf for a minute and found this place! Wish me luck guys! I do honestly believe with my heart that this is the time to quit! Here goes...

Josh
Josh- You are right. This is the time to quit. Do this for yourself first and foremost. Welcome aboard! Also, there is no "luck" involved in quitting. Now let's get to quitting!
