Way to go Stripper. You have just entered in the best endurance test of your life. Do you have what it takes to stay quit? I believe you do, but do you? Time to man up and prove it. We quit every day for one day. Every morning, wake up, log in and make your promise. Then the rest of the day work to not break that promise. Come back here often during the day especially when you have craves, and read. Read these intro's, Hall of Fame Speeches, or jump into live chat. You now have a whole network of folks here that want to help you through this, and each of us has sat right where you are.

Personally I was a ninja dipper as well. I was able hide it from family and coworkers for years, successfully. Now I'm quit, and the freedom is well worth it. Being able go to my daughter's band concert and not have to sneak off to put a cat turd in my lip is worth it. Being able to go to the Seahawks game yesterday and not have to ensure I have a plastic can so security doesn't make me pull it out in front of my father-in-law make this quit worth it.

I quit with you today.

Amazingly very few people know I dip. I dip in the car, the bathroom, the shower, out in the garage...

Also, I run marathons and do other endurance events but no one knows that I dip every chance I get.

I'm tired of hiding like a pathetic loser so I can get my fix.
Many of us could have written an introduction similar to yours. I was a 30 year ninja dipper, never once dipped with anyone, was caught maybe 6 times in 30 years with a dip in my mouth or a can in my car. I also felt like a loser and hypocrite the whole time. I don't run marathons but on bicycle tours I used to ride for hours with a dip in. So your story is shared by many. Once I realized how common I was as a ninja dipper, it reinforced my quit: people had gone through it, they could relate, they could stay quit, and so can I. And so can you.

Welcome, striper. Head over to February '16 Pre-HOF group to find your group, if you are 3 days nicotine free. Also, we've got a Quitter Endurance Thread you might check out.

Day 4. First 3 days weren't so bad. I guess I was excited to be quitting. Now the hard work is starting to set in. Daily triggers like the drive to work when I'd stick in a pinch everyday. I'm not sure if it's mental or physical but part of me would sure love a dip. Not gonna happen though. This time is for real. I'm done with the can. Thank god I found this site. I'm coming here often to keep my drive going.

A great intro sir.

This shit is as addictive as heroin. Part of the struggle is how easy it is to obtain, and how easy it is to hide. 25 year ninja here too. A can a day. this placed saved my life and gave me a freedom that is indescribable. No more hiding, lying, making excuses.

Post roll. My suggestion is to get in your group immediately and get some phone numbers. Quitting as a team is so much better than quitting alone. Sounds crazy but it works. I quit 1,000 times alone, but only once as a team - 1,065 days ago. If I can help or if you need a phone number, send me a pm. You aren't alone.

Done with this s#@t
« on: November 22, 2015, 10:43:00 PM »
Started dipping once in a while in college. Like so many it's become an addiction. Can't remember what it's like to live without dip. I've chewed just about every day for the last 25 years. I've got a stressful job and the main coping mechanism was to toss in a dip behind closed doors. Amazingly very few people know I dip. I dip in the car, the bathroom, the shower, out in the garage... My wife caught me a couple times but I was able to brush it off as something left over from a night out with the boys (little did she know...). Also, I run marathons and do other endurance events but no one knows that I dip every chance I get. I'm sick of being a slave to the can. I'm tired of hiding like a pathetic loser so I can get my fix. I'm 3 days dip free. Feels good but also feels messed up b/c I've dipped so long. Have a long over due dentist appt next week. I'm gonna need a lot of help getting through this. Thanks!
