Legacy I'm going to be a cynical addict that had hundreds of scares.  I'm going to guess that your mouth is healing just fine so you convince yourself that you can wait just a little bit longer before you quit for good.  I was going to quit after the first white patch lasted more than a week, after the first gum graft (and the 2nd,3rd  4th), after the first tooth I lost (and the 2nd,3rd  4th), oh yea and that lump I felt in my throat and the patch on my tongue and so on.  For the first year after I finally quit I still had fear that I had waited too long and that I just as well start again because it was gonna get me anyway.  Well I'm not going back to that life today because I hate nicotine and all the other poisons in dip that steal a persons control over their own life.  All the scares in the world can come and go, one may even become a serious threat but that shit can't take my freedom away today because "I POSTED ROLL".  You haven't and so you are vulnerable to having yours taken.
To everyone that says they are ready to quit and want to quit, but haven't posted roll, your chances of quitting are greatly reduced.  So POSTED ROLL and start taking control of your life!

I know that none of this is new, but the guys who show up for one second because of a cancer scare remind me of how much better quit life is ASIDE from cancer scares. The big C is what primarily drove my decision to quit. Now that I'm quit, though, reducing my risk of cancer is only 4th or 5th in terms of my rankings of reasons I love being quit. Unranked reasons, other than reducing my risk of cancer:

-Being around those that matter most: from working late  taking the long way home, to spending the entire weekend out of town when the REAL reason was to "chew in peace", I went to great lengths to serve my addiction.

-Not having to deal with spitters. For whatever reason, I didn't try the fake crap until day 50 or so. A, what a mistake. I am definitely ANTI fake stuff after week one. But B, I needed a spitter for the fake chew, too, and it was reminded me of just how unbelievably nasty spitters are. F'n sick.

-Not having the guilt of hiding it from my wife. She knew I chewed and when she asked I told her a technical version of the truth, but she had no idea how hooked I was or that "every once in a while" meant half a can a day.

-Knowing that I chewed and knowing that it causes cancer, my wife couldn't understand why I would knowingly use a product that causes cancer and risk it all. Choosing to continue chewing was basically to her, "yeah, I'll take my chances. It's worth it. I don't really need to be here to watch my daughter grow up."

-As a former ninja dipper, it was common for me to be forced to go an entire day without a chew because there wouldn't be an opportunity to sneak a dip. I'd start to get anxious as hell about getting my fix and basically start pacing around the house like a tiger at the zoo until I thought of some reason to run off. That anxiety build up really sucked. And oh, do you think I was pleasant to be around?

Anyway, I hope you stick around. Quitting AFTER you are diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma makes zero sense.

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

This guy has a similar story. You may want to talk with him.

Welcome. Remember, no luck. We face the addiction here on our own feet. But behind you are many who have defeated it.

Do, or do not, there is no try.

A scare is a great thing in that it's motivating to maintain a quit. I've had a month long throat infection which motivated my quit to start, but now that it's over, yep after 25 days I'm thinking about dipping again or even having a cigar. Glad it was a scare, but use it  remember what it felt like  the fear so it keeps you motivated to stay quit!

Cancer scares are attention getters. But I hope that scare isn't your only motivation for signing up. Because when you find out it was nothing (and they are almost all nothing), what's left? The danger is that you might think that a clean bill of health is permission to start again...which is exatly what the Nic Bitch will be whispering in your ear.

Click on the Welcome Center and read. Learn what to expect and learn how this is done. If your motivation isn't well thought out, you probably won't stay quit.

You MUST want to be quit more than you want anything else. With the right mindset, you can live nic free. But YOU must make the choice...not a cancer scare, a girlfriend/wife, or a job. YOU must make the choice.

YOU CAN DO THIS. PM me if you need anything.

Welcome. Glad to have you here. Go to the Welcome Center and read about the site. You will need to post ROLL to committ to yourself and everyone here that you are quit today. That is how we do it... One Day at a Time. That is the only way. Posting roll is a must. This is all about accountability.

This is not going to be easy. But you can do it bro. You have made the right decision and you are in the right place. Lets get you started with a Day 1 roll post in your December quit group. PM me if you need an assist.

hello i just signed up for this site and its very helpfull! i had a scare last week when i was sneaking a dip behind thewifes back the next day after i had that dip my back right gum/cheek was very sore i looked in my mouth and it was very irritated and red so of course i panicked, then within the hour i had a white soar develop so i dug at it and it seemed like dead skin but came back just as quick i was sure i had mouth camcer, now that i have researched it and lost sleep i realised it was an ulcer due to the dip im sure it is decreasing in size and hurts less and less i am leaving it alone so it will heal but man what a scare and it was enough to make me quit for good this time! no more poison for my mouth!
to bad it took that scare to get the light to come on. Don't feel alone. Most of us have had that same scare. Just to be on the safe side it would be a good thing to go ahead and make an appointment and have that place in your mouth looked at. Chances are it won't be anything and it will heal up but you never know until you get it checked.

Welcome to the site. Read, Read, Read. read everything here at least twice and then read it again. Look at the pics, talk about nasty. HOw would you like that to be you? You are in the december group. Post roll and keep your word. We are all here to support you.

Be warned, if you slip you will get whipped pretty bad from the guys on this site. When we are done beating you up we will help pick you up off the ground and get you started back on the right path.

Congrats on the quit. Not going to lie, the next few days are gonna be tough. Head over to the December '13 group, introduce yourself and post roll. It's a pleasure to quit with you today. If you want some extra accountability PM your phone number and I'll help you get past those cravings anyway I can.
