As Mj said, we don't "try". We quit each day by posting roll; giving our word to ourselves, our group, and everyone else here that we will not sue nicotine today.

Next. Quit for you. If you do your family will reap the benefits.

Advice - don't expect any miracles. You put poison in your system for years. That did a lot of damage. You're going to have to fight the craves one day at a time and learn to redo everything in your life without a dip in. I won't lie, it sucks, but it is worth the fight. It gets better, much better, with time.

Tools - gum, hard candy, coffee stirs, wet teabags, Atomic Fireballs, WATER, exercise, READ intros and HOF speeches, get involved in KTC and your group, etc.

Like you said, here's to quitting.  Holler if I can help you in any way.
Good job on your decision. You've gotten some good advice, use it. You've asked what helps with the quit. I used candy, toothpicks, gum, fake. Use whatever you can to keep the real out.

Just realize you are quitting one of the most addictive drugs known to man and there is no answer that will take the withdrawals away. There is a lot of stuff to HELP, but realize HELP is the best it can do.

The one thing that will really help your quit is read, read, read. Learn your enemy and what you are going to go through. The more I learned about nicotine addiction and how to defeat it the more it helped me. A lot of information is on this sight. Quit with you today.
Listen to Srans: read, read, read on KTC. Go to a veteran's Intro thread and read the entire thing. Then, read some more.
Dude, Welcome to the ride of your life! You can "be quit" for good....ODAAT just like all of us here.
Follow the advice given..to the letter...don't think there is a "shortcut" to being quit. This koolaid works wonders and I wouldn't drink anything else...
I am on my first and last quit of 433 days after dipping for 30 yrs 24/7.....Thanks to KTC and the brotherhood.
You found the place now learn the tools...your life depends on it, ya know.
Wait to long and you may regret it.
1 problem + nicotine = 2 problems.
Cheers and Welcome to the real world.
Keeping my jaw and tongue...I like them.
It's poison I tell ya, You wouldn't drink Liquid Drano, would ya?

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

Today is the first day of me trying to quit. I am open to all suggestions of how to quit this crap. I made a promise to myself and my family that I'd quit about a month ago. Needless to say it's not going too well. But, that's where this site comes in. I'm serious. Starting today, it's game on. I am open to all suggestions and advice to help me quit. I've tried the fake stuff and it kind-of works, but when using it, I find myself craving the real stuff more and more. So, what have you done to quit? Have you used the fake stuff? Did it get you on the path? Let me know!

Here's to quitting!
Do, or do not. There is no try.

One is too many, and a thousand aren't enough.

Get aerobic/cardio exercise, and drink plenty of water. WATER, not gatorade, powerade, or any othe "ade".

Read. The welcome center will tell you what to expect.

Post roll in November 2013.

PM me with any questions you may have.

David.
The first couple days will be tough. But you can do it and you will do it!

http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/what.asp

You need to fight the Bitch one day at a time, Hour by Hour, or Minute by Minute if you must. You will be hearing lies coming from her anything to draw you back while you are fighting the withdrawal symptoms, stay close to the site and read as much as possible. You need to do this for yourself and no one else. Post Roll every day and honor your word that you will not use dip today.

And personally, I use fake, seeds, gum, jerky, and mints. Everyone has to find what works for themselves best. PM if you have any questions.

Shawn

You're right. Today is the day I quit. There is no try. Armed with support, it is time to kick the poison. Is it odd it gives me a bit of anxiety just saying, I quit?!!? Lol.
