I swear those of you who did this more, you must have willpower made of steel.
No, we all made a pact with the devil... and we are running away from it one day at a time. We have all had enough. Have you? I am here on a Friday night at 11:40pm with a smoky mountain in, hopefully going to sleep soon. I haven't had nic today. Made a promise that I wouldn't. Did you?
To remain quit requires focus

Damn day 2. This sucks. I was never a heavy user but I never was able to stop dipping when I wanted it either.

Drilling work wrapped up early. I have chewed through 3 packs of gum and all I want is to kick back and dip. I walked into the gas station after work and almost bought one....but turned my ass around and left.

I swear those of you who did this more, you must have willpower made of steel.

Thanks for the replies! I was being an idiot and locked myself out of my account for awhile (forgot my password) but I got it figured out.

Bill Dance - It may come as a surprise but the industry I work in is fairly tough on people and I enjoy every opportunity I get to get out of the damned office and do physical work - which is why I think I dip, like to relish the experience.

Stranger999 - I appreciate your honest opinion. I am tired of this fucking lingering habit, I was doing great for a few days this week (I'm on a drilling job for a week). Anyway I threw my can of grizzly away at the start of the trip. A few days later (today) I walked into the gas station and bought a tin and dipped. So your right, I guess my will power wasn't that strong. I'm not one to give up on shit so here I am. I will post in roll tomorrow morning.

Problem is I hide this from my girlfriend...and she was the one who helped me quit cigarettes and hookah (we made a "pact" where she quit something and I quit something).
Well, open up with your girlfriend. Let her know about your quit. You will have support for this challenge right by your side!

When you've quit you will need to focus on your quit hour by hour or even minute by minute. Rather than dipping get some exercise or drink some water. Some here use fake chew like Smokey Mountain or Jakes.

Get to know the folks in your quit group and swap your digits. Send me a PM if you want mine. :)

if you only dip when you do physical labor and said you only dip 4-5 times a month the thing I need to know is ,if your company is hiring?!? and what do you do on the weekends besides lay around on the couch? LOL
Alex isn't ready yet. That's a shame but quitters need to be ready to quit or they will fail.

Hello everyone,

My name is Alex and I started dipping about 6 months ago. I'm joining this forum in the hopes I can get some support from the users here in trying to nip a new habit in the bud (it's been harder to quit than cigarettes so far).

I have struggled with tobacco in the past...used to use snus, then started smoked camel menthols, smoked for about a year at a pack or two a month. Well I quit that about 5 years ago and then "only" did hookah (yea not better at all). Anyway I quit hookah for about 4 years and just recently I started working a job where I was around some drillers. We worked late one night and we're all having trouble staying awake. One asked if I wanted a lip, I figured what the hell - and wow, the buzz was awesome. Now I only dip when working with a drill crew or when I do physical labor (I buy the occasional tin). Probably 4-5 lips per month. Based on my experience with tobacco in the past this very rarely stays in control.

Anyway that's my story so far. I live in California and am in my late twenties.

-Alex
I see a common thread here Alex. Whether it is dip or cigarettes or snus or even a hookah - you are consuming nicotine. Know thy enemy. It isn't a habit it is an addiction. If you are ready to quit read the welcome thread, then find your quit group and post a promise to not use nicotine in any form for 24 hours.

You are young and it is always better to quit when you are young.

Stranger999 - day 556 without nicotine.
Do you want to quit Alex?

If so, post roll here.

I bet nicotine products cost a lot of money out there in California. I hate to think about the money I wasted on nicotine for 35 years before I found my way here and actually quit.
