Hey BDunn just got done reading your posts. Congratulations on being quit for as long as you have! That is great brother. I experienced weird sensations in my mouth after quitting, not like yours but still strange things. I, for whatever reason, have had an unquenchable thirst for two days. It went away today though. I guess it's just your body adapting to the physical change. The body can adapt to any sort of stimuli it is given. Hang in there you are doing great.
I've been getting a lot better after staying on the reflux meds. The thirst things, yeah, I get it on and off too. Some days my mouth dries up and I can't get enough water, some days I'm good. I think it's half the quit and half the reflux meds. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement, and keep up the good fight my friend!

Just wanted to provide another update in case it might help another fellow quitter know that somebody else is experiencing the same. I'm on day 37. I still feel like I'm in the "fog" but it's a lot better than week one and two. The anxiety has gotten better, but still have unsettling feelings from time to time, but it's much better.

I'm starting to get my appetite back, but it's still not like pre-dip. I went a week or two where I couldn't look at food.

The only issue still really bothering me is my throat. It just hurts. My saliva has changed too, it seems thicker and it's hard to swallow. I wake up in the middle night almost every night with a dry ass mouth. I'm just chugging water and hoping it clears up back to normal soon.

All in all, I'm proud to be 37 days quit and I can't wait to make it to 1,000 and beyond.
ODAAT! Wow that nicotine sure does screw a person, mot only health wise but mentally also. It took me a long time to figure out what normal is suppose to be and I'm loving every damn second of it. Only thing is, I've been married 33 years and I have more time to spend with my wife than I use to. Not always a bad thing. I'm 53 and it better shape than I've been in 20 years. Your eating, sleeping everything will be better than ever. Takes time for the brain to rewire. How long depends entirely on the person. It took me over a year but it is so awesome! Damn proud to be quit with you! Quit on!

I'm on day 242 and still have weird things going on with me from time to time. I feel you on the dry mouth part though ....I wake up every night to go piss and feel like I've been chewing on cardboard sponges all night...it's weird as hell. I keep a bottle of water on my night stand now and pound it as soon as I wake up in the morning. Before I eat ,shower or even brush my teeth. Amazingly about 10 min after you chug that bottle of water you start to feel great!!! I can't explain it but it works.

I also still have a weird feeling on just like the tip of my tongue, it hard to explain but even this far into it I'm having these things. It you know that I fed myself at least a can of poison a day for the last 24 years so I'm not expecting any sort of "quick fix" from my body now that I'm quit. Alan due time, all in due time.

Proud to be quit with you
Thanks Bill Dance. I hate that you're feeling the dry mouth too and the tongue thing, but that's exactly the two symptoms I have left that I'm dealing with. My Doctors have assured me that I'm not dying and just drink more water. I guess it's assuring to know that you're 242 days in with the same symptoms and still here to type about it! We'll get through it and it will pass.

Proud to be quit with you. Day 40~!

my symptoms so far (day 13) are as follows

headaches
the weird taste in mouth
anxiety is through the roof
I get a lot of road rage over the littlest things

the one I was hoping not to get but did is the unsettling stomach feeling after eating (I always had a dip after eating it seemed to settle my stomach)

pushing through these I know it will get better

I've had some goofy things going on with me as well. The side of my tongue gets a little numb. Not all the time, but on occasion. My BM's have actually gotten more regular than they've been in years. I don't get as much heartburn. And I can only sleep about 6 hours a night. It's just your body adjusting to the new reality, man. I would wait until you've been quit for three months or so, and then go to the doctor. Anything that's happening right now is not going to get a lot worse in that time. Just my two cents worth.

Ok, so my tongue is burning and this morning I noticed it's scalloped. A scalloped tongue can mean a lot of things from the basic inflammation to the C word. I'm just wondering if anybody had tongue issues in their first 20 days? Tell me "yes, this is normal" so I can go about my day and stop freaking out.

Hey brother you are going through some of the same things all of us went through. I don't think I'd run straight to the Dr's office, give it a couple days. But I'm not a medical professional so you need to decide that on yourself. I'm not gonna lie, a lot of this is your body adjusting to your new normal. Some of it is even that nic-bitch trying to get you to put that dirt back in your lip. "It'll make you feel better," she says. So go ahead and tell her get the hell on. Stay on roll and trade some digits. Time for the new you, homey.
No day but today.

Hey Bdunn

I had some weird mouth issues in the first couple weeks too. One of the strangest was my teeth felt swollen. It was the strangest thing. One of the older vets told me that it was the PH in my mouth being off and trying to fight through and begin healing. It would take some time but eventually it would settle down.
They were right. Get through this first bit and it will all settle into place. It gets better every day. You have a tough road ahead in the first bit but it is so worth it.
I really recommend using the Intro page as a kind of journal to log your experiences and record what's happening.
I quit 1285 days ago in 2013. I'm going to quit again tomorrow too but you do tend to forget some things. When I go back and read some of my early journal entries on my intro page I wonder who that dude is. It's a great way to reinforce your quit but at the same time let everyone here share in your experience and support you.

I really appreciate the support. Thanks all. Like I said earlier, my intentions are to stay clean. I'm not sure why I decided to put it down, I think I was just tired of the shit, it was like a bad marriage. I'll head over to the other forum and figure out this roll call thing. I'm glad I found the site, I feel like nobody around me knows what I'm going through, and this might me be the toughest fight I've ever been in, but I'm ready. BRING IT!
