Hey all, today is day 1 for me. Been a dipper since I was 16. Im 35 now. Quit a few times over the years with little success. Tried the patches, gum and non-tobacco dip. Even tried the Wellbutrin which was awful.

I had my annual VA check-up last Thursday and my doc gave me some Chantix. I started on it the next day and yesterday I finished up the last of my skoal. It took about 9 days to kick in but this stuff is amazing. I have lost all urge to dip and even thinking about it doesn't appeal to me.

So, day 1 and I have a good feeling about this one. I've only been nicotine free once in 18 years when I went thru boot camp 12 years ago. Worst thing I ever did was to start again.
Good job Prairie! Now, go post roll over in "Quit Groups". You will be in the "September 2014" group. That is the month you will hit the Hall of Fame (100 days quit).

Welcome to the KTC family,  enjoy the suck. It gets better, I promise.

PM if you need anything.

Praire, great choice to quit! It sounds like you are ready to be free. Read everything on KTC and educate yourself about nicotine addiction, and the way we quit here. If you follow the plan laid out you will be quit. Thanks for your service to this country, and PM me if you need anything.
