I know the amount of nicotine I consume from a can a day is a factor in this. Also concerned about the cancer possibilities , etc, this stuff can cause.

I have tried to quit in the past before, but not like this time. IÂ’m going to give it a good shot this time. IÂ’m going on 24 hours now without a dipÂ…
Sounds like you know you NEED to quit, but do you really WANT it? You gotta really want it, or it's an automatic fail. Get your head in the game. Don't "try", or "give it a good shot". Quit... for good. I understand what you meant, but just wanted to make the point that we all have to be 100% committed every day, or this wont work.

Now get over to December group and make us a promise.

You have come to the right place. I was a total closet dipper, and I know what you mean about being sick of it. I was sick of that and of needing something just to feel normal. This place has all the resources you will need.
Go post roll, join us one day at a time, it's a crazy ride, and sometimes it really sucks, but you are gonna love being free!

My story –

Started very young - first time I was about 11 years old and I threw up like many others did. Tried again a few years after, chewing tobacco and dip both. This time is stuck.. started using. By the time I was 15 it was daily. Going on 37 now Â… and it has been 1 can a day for since 18 or so.

Wife never says a word about it, never complains. But I’m tired of hiding it and “working it in” at family events, social events, etc. It’s hard work sneaking a dip as many here know. I have been really concerned about my health lately as well. I’m fit and in good shape, but I do have high blood pressure which I have had for 10 years. I know the amount of nicotine I consume from a can a day is a factor in this. Also concerned about the cancer possibilities , etc, this stuff can cause.

I have tried to quit in the past before, but not like this time. IÂ’m going to give it a good shot this time. IÂ’m going on 24 hours now without a dipÂ… first time in many years I have went this long without. ItÂ’s double hard with me because I work from homeÂ…where I can dip freely all long if I choose. IÂ’m surviving for nowÂ… have some nicotine gum to help for the first few days. Also have a lot of the fake dipÂ… which really helps.

I guess the first 3 days are the hardestÂ… weÂ’ll see.
Welcome to the site. head over to the December quit group and post roll call.

Click #3 on that link for instructions.

I work from home also. I was up to 2 cans a day when I went 100% cold turkey 607 days ago.

It can be done!! Let us know if you need anything!!
