I understand what your goin through man. Im a Submariner in the USN and its like you said its part of the uniform. i always had a can in my front breast pocket underway 24/7 (i even kept one in the rack for those morons who would forget theirs on watch). I tried quitting before like you did but never followed through and would cave, until i came here where finally i said fuck this controlling bitch and left heronce and for all. and sure ill be the first to admit it hasnt been easy by any means but i can already tell a difference. i actually have my appetite back (whether thats due to with draw or not i dont know lol) but none the less im getting healthier all around the board. So heres my request of you... Quit today and join us, hell... join me. It will be the most freeing day of your life. This is the greatest group of guys ( and gals... yes there are girls on this website as well) to have as a support group and it makes a world of difference in your quitting. So here we are all waiting on your decision, waiting to help and support you. You in?

As im sure is the same story with many people on here, Ive tried to quit multiple times with no success. Ive been in the marine corps infantry for 4 and a half years and dipping goes along with the lifestyle. Its a stress reliever, time killer, and part of the persona of a infantry Marine. Im getting out of the military Jan 31 and would like to quit February 1st. Ive recently started a new relationship with a girl I care a lot about, and although she doesnt hate the fact I dip, I know its not good for me long term. I thought I would give this forum a try and hopefully I get the support I need. Thanks
First of all thanks for your service......secondly you are a Marine correct? Marines are some of the baddest ass folk on the planet.......you skullfuck any enemy of the the USA correct? Yet you personally, my bad ass Marine are letting the nicotine bitch and big tobbaco emasculate you and enslave you....all the while trying to kill you dead as shit....what kind of Marine takes that? Quit now and show that bitch who the boss is.
Chew is for the weak, the ignorant, the stupid.....don't be stupid. Not stupid as of 11/28/10
Before you cave read this http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=4938
Acting with almost as much speed as cyanide, nicotine is well
established as one of the most toxic drugs known. In humans,
60mg (a drop) is a lethal dose, and death follows intake within a few minutes. Dr. Charles Ksir

Stay Quit...it's life or death.....
Don't Cave

Ya, you need to quit right now.
If the girlfriend does not mind if you dip, she will learn to hate it in the future.

Quit right now with the rest of us. You have all the support you will ever need right here.

Welcome.

There will never be a good time to quit. The only time is right now. If your word of honor means anything, you can do this.

Give your word.

Keep it.

I have to agree with what everyone has said so far, and I know how it goes, in the Army Infantry world the dipping is rampant, the freezers are stocked with Red Man and every Specialist has an extra can of Skoal in his pocket. That's how it is. You don't have to dip.

I have attempted to quit a couple of times before, and I have never gotten as far as I have with this forum. I will have to say, it alleviates some of the emotional stress if you quit when you are away from your loved ones. You just don't want to have to deal with all the side effects of the nicotine withdrawal at the same time that you're trying to re-accustom yourself to civilian life.

ETSing is a stressful time for anyone, why wait a month to do something you can do today? Very honestly, it would make more sense for you to leave the Corps without an addiction than to leave with an addiction and attempt to beat it later.

My advise is to quit dipping today...but that's what everyone else has already said. I didn't understand the urgency until I got past day 3 or 4 and really started to feel the shock effects of the nicotine withdrawal. It sucks. I need to get this poison out of me. You do too, we care about you here, we know what you're going through in your head right now, and what you're going to be feeling a few days from now. We can help you, but first you have to stop dipping.

Do it for yourself, not for your girlfriend or anyone else. Do it because you want to live the rest of your life without the poison eating away at your gums, your jaw, and your face. Or just do it because...because whether you like it or not you are letting someone else control your feelings, your moods, your day to day life....

THIS IS YOUR DAY TO BE QUIT.
