I'm glad Kubrick bumped this rediculous bullshit to the top. Maybe eveybody will read it all.

Learo, you said you "used" this site before. Oh, no you didn't. 18 posts in 5 years?!?! You are kidding nobody but yourself. Had you REALLY used this site, you would be almost 5 years quit today. Had you REALLY used this site, you would recognize that stuff you typed as just a bunch of excuses. Had you REALLY used this site, you would know that planning to quit almost always results in failure. Had you REALLY used this site, you'd be helping out some other folks today and paying forward the support that is so vital here. I could go on and on.

You asked for some recomendations. Mine is that you start taking this seriously. Obviously, so far you haven't.

I you'll come on in here and get serious, Kubrick and I will be among the first ones to offer support. Until then, I'm just upset about the disrespect you have shown to this place and the quitters here that are fighting for life every day.
I see what SOS was talking about in Jun 8,2007 his words hit home with me I read this on the 911 cave prevention site. here is what he had to say...

I agree full heartedly with QT.....What the fuck is with all of you mamsy pambsy pussies caving here is the last few days? and then coming up with lame ass excuses as to why you did it? This fucking pisses me off to no end, what do you want? do you want to be coddled? aawww, its ok, we know you didn't mean it, now dust yourself off, and get back on the horse..............FUCK THAT!! I hope the mother fuckin horse kicks you in the head while you are down and knocks some freakin sense into you! This is not a game children. Have you noticed that the caves come in groups? You know why? because when one of you cave, especially one so close to making the Hall of fame, it plants a seed in the others heads that they don't want there! Remember this, to any jackass thinking of caving, you cave and you drag a few others down with you. Now, if you can be at peace with yourself, knowing that you are fucking up somebody elses life, then go seek help.
Complacency sucks, one moment of it is the difference between being a user and a quitter....OIB

Well look at that. It's now May 1st and someone didn't quit after their vacation.

'finger point'

I'm bumping this intro because it's a good example of how setting a future quit date, especially one a month away just doesn't work.

If you're on the fence about quitting or thinking you'll wait a day, week, month whatever. Throw that crap out this minute and post roll.

The best day to quit is today.

I quit last August and I can tell you that these guys can be rough. I tried to quit while on the patches and they told me to come back when I was a man. Well as it turned out I stayed on the patch for 5 days and quit that.

Trying not be hurtful but for your health reasons today is a better day to quit than a month for now. My wife had cancer and I had to go to the Chemo sessions with her. My wife never smoked or chewed but look what happened. I still have my dad around at 82 and I still ask him questions. Don't be a dick to your kids and not be able to answer their questions. Hopefully as bad as your gums looks the kids would think twice before starting. This all falls on you so go see your doctor and get your Chantix. You will be on vacation free of this crap if you quit now.

For your questions for me I did Smoky Mountain but if you read up on it you will find it is really not that good for you. I had a tough time quitting that also. If I was doing it all over again I would do hard candy, sunflower seeds, and gum. The best app will be to get the Staples app that says "THAT WAS EASY" and press that every time you have a craving. No app can make you quit or make it easier only you can. It is a beast to quit and the only reason I will never do it again is because it is a beast to quit.

Bit of intro.   I used this group to quit in 2008.   I quit in 2008 and this group had a huge part to do with quitting.   Well I quit for 2 years and mother nic slowly slipped back into my life. I started chewing when I was around 12 and full time at 16.  I am 40 now coming up on 41.   I became a father of 2 great boys and am having health problems now.  I need to quit now more then ever.
My top 10 reasons for quitting.
1. I don't want to die. Sounds cheesy, but I am having health issues.  I have had thrush 3 times this year and right now it is bad.  My mouth is sore as hell and fucked up.   I also had the dentist diagnosis me with gum disease and was suppose to go back in for 3 deep cleanings and never went back.   He also wanted to do some biopsies.  So I am sitting her on Easter morning with a sore ass mouth watching the kids play with their Easter goodies with a chew in.  WTF
2.  Kind of falls in with one but I want to be a good provider, see my boys grow up and it is selfish of me to do this when it could leave my kids without a father and a wife without a husband.
3. I don't want to pass this on to my boys.  I believe that tabacco is often a learned behavior.  I had my first Chew at 12 from my dads tin.  I can't stand to pass it on to my beautiful kids.
4.  Money.  1.5 tins a day at 7.50 a tin.  Shit I need to do the math.
5.   Mess.  Yeh we all know this one well.
6.   It pisses me off that I am paying to kill myself and the fucking government subsides it and makes money on my chewing.
To be continued.

When I quit last time I took chantix and picked my quit day when I was on spring break.  I also used the fake chew to help quit.   The vacation deal helped with being out of my environment and the fake chew helped with the psychological part.

So I am getting ready to go on vacation on April 28th (which is also my 41st bday).  So I am planning my quit day for the 30th.   I don't want the first day be why I am flying and don't want the first day of vacation be the quit day.

On to my questions.
1.   Any recommendations for the fake chew?  I remember I ordered one online that was in. A metal can but was woundering if there are any other new products
2.   Any good iPhone apps?  Like reminders, inspiration, quit lists?

I am now going to read up on the process of quitting here again to see what has changed since 2008.    Here we go and thanks in advance for the support.

Fuck u mother nic.  I am back.  Back again.  Tell your friends.   Bring it.   'na na'
You have never quit. You only stopped for a while. 18 posts on your account says you did not use this site hardly at all.

in any case, you need to answer the 3 questions:

1) what happened?
2) why did it happen?
3) what are you going to do differently this time?

Also, throw that shit out now and quit. Your quit date a month from now? Pure 100% bullshit. I would place money on you not coming back on the 30th to post up a day one.

If you actually want to quit and have some balls, you'll man the hell up, toss the worm dirt and post up your day 1 in the July '13 quit group - Today!

Personally, I don't think you actually want to quit, so I'm not holding my breath.
I agree 100% with Kubrick; if you really wanted to quit you would throw it out now, not put it off for a month. Nothing has changed about quitting since 2008, as much as it can suck its also really simple- stop putting that shit in your mouth. Quit one day at a time. You say the dentist wants to do biopsies, that is a huge wake up call man! If you don't quit now you may reach the point of no return, where the sores turn into cancer and youre fucked. Quit now, choose life and freedom. I will quit with you when you find the courage to face the nicodemon.
You are going to delay your quit for 30 days until after your vacation. Then you'll have a guys weekend scheduled for two weeks from there so you might as well just end up waiting until after that. Then you'll stop for a day or two and something stressful will come up and you'll have a dip. You'll forget the attempt at quitting for a few weeks until you develop a sore in your mouth. "I better quit now" you'll say. I'll just wait until after the wedding/tournament/trip/[insert whatever you want here]. The broken record plays on.

Sound familiar?

Welcome Doug! Go find the Aug 08 group and post up.
Going now... wasnt sure how that acutally worked. Yesterday was tough... Me and the wife got into some spats, but I got a good night sleep for a change and feel strong today. The mint chew actually takes the edge off for me. I know it its mental but it works.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Well I have been lurking and gathering info from the site for about a week now.  I have been on nic since I was 16 and am currently 36.  I chewed for the most part but would smoke cigs when drinking.

This isnt the  first time  I have quit, but it is the  first time in probally 10 years.  I  feel pretty strong this time.

I have been on the chantix for 16 days now.  I cut back two 2 chews a  day after about day 6 and then quit on day 12.

Today was probally my tuffest day for it was my first day at work chew free.  I quit when I was on vacation.  I thought that if I  was out of my normal tasks and was staying buzy it would help.  I think it did to be honest.  I got drunk the night before my quit day, for I  dont chew when I am hung over.  So the first day was not to bad.  Today though my arms ached and I felt like I was going to come out of my skin.  I went and baught some of that Herbal Mint chew, and it was not half bad.

Anyways, I am tired and am going to goto bed.... I am still trying to figure this site out.... thanks mucho.

Doug,

I had a 30 year habit before joining this site, And now I can say I've been quit for 141 days. The site works you just have to want to quit and buy into what we are all about, and that is accountability! Congrats on your choice and welcome aboard.
Quit Date 12/31/2007 (8:00 PM)

Congrats Doug! Stick with your quit, it gets better I promise. First few days are definitely the worst.
There's nothing nicotine has to offer that I need. Never has been, never will be.
