Hi. I started dipping at eighteen. 27 years later now and I am done.
I played two sports, where it was common practice for players to dip, water polo and ice hockey. I was able to avoid the temptation in high school, but couldn't get past it in college.
Over the years, I have tried to quit. I tried the patch nearly 20 years ago. I have tried the gum 15 years ago. I quit, cold turkey, 12 years ago. But succumbed to the temptation when I started a sales job where people either smoked or dipped. I have since left that line of work and came to the decision 5 days ago that I was done with this for the last time. This time I am using meds and this group to quit for good.
I was turned onto this website by a friend and fellow group member, AquaDipper.
I will not give in again. I can do this.
Heck yea bud! Welcome to the best decision you have ever made. Glad to quit with you today. Tomorrow we quit again. Let me know if you néed help posting roll. Get on tonight and make that promise! So happy for you!!!
Erooster- 90% of this battle is attitude and it sounds like you have the right attitude. The other part is arming yourself with knowledge: read, read, and read some more on this web-site. Put as much time feeding your quit as you did feeding your addiction and you can and will beat this.
Post roll: early and every damn day
Read: stick around, get involved in your group; read other intros, words of wisdom, get in chat
Get involved: post support in other groups; update your intro to document your journey; support your brother in quit
Drink lots of water the next few days; if you don't have to piss every time you walk by a bathroom you aren't drinking enough water. Flush that shit out of your system.
Quit with you, one day at a time.
