Sorry everyone. No, I'm not wasting everyone's time. Trying to find a job is more work than the actual job itself. I'll join roll call after typing this.

I caved the last time. Thought I was ready but wasn't. It's my fault. I am addicted to nicotine and I hate that. Letting something control me is wrong. I hope I didn't cause others to give up.

I'm quitting for good. I'm quitting for me. I don't want to die. This time, I'm getting my life in order. I'm going to go outside more. Take more walks and start using the exercise equipment I bought three Christmases ago. I'm taking my life back.

Thanks for all the support.

I'm 34 days in and feeling good. I passed my nicotine test, and received two job offers on the same day. I am employed again, and I'm not interested in dipping. I've had it with tobacco, and don't want anything to do with it.

Joeyc : I think you should be in our May 2014 group (May Rebels of Quit) but I don't see any roll posting by you! I've stopped using for 3 individual periods before my insurance blood test at work (and before a life insurance pretest). Ninja dipping is sometimes worse because of the lying involved. Start posting roll again - in May - help us Newbies out. Just said a prayer for you, -Paul

Joe,

I merged your original intro with this one. Read back to that first post and you'll find some similarities in your reasons (excuses) to quit. As has been stated in here, quit for you because you want it. Not for your daughter that is disappointed that you dip, not for your other daughter, not for your wife, not for a new job because they will test you for nicotine. Quit for you.

1. What happened?
2. Why did it happen?
3. WTF are you gonna do different!

(EDIT: Joe, you aren't even on April 2014 roll yet? Are you wasting our time)

Do you want to quit permanently or just until you land the new gig?
My job went tobacco free over 5 years ago. Didn't stop me, i just became a black belt ninja dipper. How bad do you really want it?
Two hundred and twenty two days of quit and now back to square 1. There really isn't more to be said than what my fellow brothers have said already. I just hope you now realize a few things:

1) you're an addict. I life long addict and this isn't something that just goes away. It will be a fight every day for the rest of your life.

2) srans is dead on. If the shihans and senseis of ninja dipping in this community were as good at martial arts as we were ninja dippers, we'd have our own branch of the military. This quit ain't about the job, it's about you. The addict in you will find a way to dip, you need to find a better way not to.

3) Once you answer those 3 questions, you're reintroduction is much appreciated. There are many a dipper in this community that can learn from your prior success and subsequent failure. We too want to learn from it as you learn to move on from it and be quit once more.

Let's do this.

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

Well Joeyc you know the drill I'm sure; answer the 3 questions:

1. What happened?
2. Why did it happen?
3. WTF are you gonna do different!

Answer to your old group and your new group.

I hope you are ready to quit for yourself and not for a job or any other reason Joey, You have to want it and be ready to own this shit. You didnt quit for 222 days, you just stopped. If you are here to quit than im with you brother. Awnser the 3 questions in your intro, new group and old group...... Take your licks and dig your fuckin heels in man, quit

Winter Green Day 63
Joey, this quitter is spot on. You do need to answer the 3 questions, post it here in your intro, in your new group AND with your old group.
This exercise is really for you more than it is for the rest of us. Here is a clue. If you think you are just quitting for a job, you won't make it. That is a semi-temporary deal, it can change. You must quit for yourself, and you must want it and invest in it. It takes effort. 150-some posts in 222 days quit previously suggests to me you never did completely buy into the peer accountability that is the cornerstone of this site. I'll be curious to see how the 08 quitters greet you. Welcome back, drink the koolaide this time and invest in your quit.
Fish, eat, sleep. Repeat.

Hello everyone,

I was a member of this forum in the past and stopped using for 222 days before I caved. This time, it's a little different.

I was laid off my job of over 26 years over a week ago. I have a lot of opportunities I'm pursuing and some of them REQUIRE a tobacco test. Therefore, I'm using this opportunity to quit.

I've been putting off my quit for so long now, I felt like I was never going to be able to initiate the quit. This has given me a good reason to quit, and could be why I lost my job to begin with (maybe if I continued down the path of dipping, I'd be on a direct path to cancer).

I'm 64 hours in, and it's been difficult. I am used to having a dip in for almost all of my waking hours. Today I woke up feeling a little better than usual, so things are feeling better hour by hour.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Joe

My lips and gums are smooth as well. One thing that has really helped me with the physical part of quitting is Baccoff. I'm having a hard time finding non-tobacco non-nicotine products where I live so I just ordered more online (I ordered some Hooch as well).

Chewing gum helps me with the physical addiction as well, but I tend to chew it so much that my jaws hurt.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I'm committed to making this work forever.

Hey Joeyc, smart move.

You and I went through a similar process. I quit around the early part of December as was gonna us the gum for about three months like the packaging said. I weaned off that after about two weeks and while it may have thought it would be easier...it wasn't easy.

You go through it all just the same, irritability...

You and I are both about 30+ days into a quit and man it feels good. Gums are smooth, don't really even want that first dip anymore...just the occasional trigger that man it would be nice to have one now. But that passes quick enough and then its a long, long time till you feel it again.

I'm staying quit, I feel good about it and I hope you do to. Just the other day, I brought in a water bottle that had been in car for couple weeks. My wife asked if it was "clean". I thought about it, kind of smiled and said yes, then took a drink. It was a good feeling!

I turn 40 this year. I have been dipping on and off since I was 14, and dipping almost constantly during waking hours for the last 17 years. I have quit before (on one occasion I quit for an entire year before starting again the day before my wedding).

Anyway, my last dip of Copenhagen was on December 3rd. That day, I purchased Nicotine gum and chewed it for two weeks before running out. After I ran out of gum, I decided I'm not going to buy any more and completely quit.

Within the first week, I noticed I was getting angry very easily. The first month was very tough. My wife says I was very mean, and I agree. Last night, I was really on edge due to a stressful day at work. After reading this board, now I see that other folks have anger issues after quiting as well.

Since I'm past the one month mark of not having any nicotine, I feel like I've made a big change in my life. Every once in a while, I will find info on how dipping is safer than smoking and I almost convince myself that it would be safe to chew. However, I'm sticking with it this time. I have two beautiful daughters and the oldest was very dissapointed that I chewed.

Take care and best of luck to all you other dipper quiters out there!
welcome joey and join our role call. i have been quit the bitch with my wife lately also.
