Wish I would have made the decision to quit while I was in school. Instead, I continued to dip for another 15 years after that.

You're making a great decision.  Quit on.

Shoot me a PM if you need anything.
It's just hard to be professional in the field I am in, and dip. I want to just man up, and stop. I'm coming up on 48 hours, and doing ok. Sometimes I don't want it at all. Sometimes it is all I can think about.
LSU...
Way to man up. Hang in there buddy. 2 days into your quit means you have accomplished a lot. Hour by hour, minute by minute, keep grinding it out. Also, keep in mind that craves physically only last 3 minutes or less. So don't give the nic bitch satisfaction of caving into a lousy 3 minute crave. You are more man that that. And look around. There are a ton of guys (and gals) here who are freshly through exactly what you're going through now. They've got your back. Quit on bro!

Welcome to the suck -- the red carpet has been rolled out for you. Everything you're going through means your body/mind is transitioning -- successfully -- to a life without nicotine. As long as a few off-days at work don't result in your head on a platter, the initial sacrifice in composure will be worth your long-term health, clarity of mind, and happiness. It gets better, hang tough. [/QUOTE]
I even quit with you knowing you're an LSU Tiger fan. hahahaha (SEC joke)
Enjoy it bro, it sucks now but will get way better. Do what ever you can, whether it's fake snuff, sunflower seeds, candy, etc. just don't put the lip terd back in. Make this your damn default browser on your computer and just read it when a crave hits. You got it.

I quit with you

You know what's great about 48. It means you can make 49. One hour at a time. You got this.

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

You guys are absolutely right. I need to do this for me. I want to do this for me.
So have you flushed your can down the toilet yet?
I finished my last can yesterday. Just fighting the urge to go to the store at this point.
Okay, good. You are quit. Now you have 3 days or so to get the nicotine out of your body. You are now entering what we call "the big suck." Everything is going to really suck for the next few days. Follow the advice you will see across this site: Post Roll every morning in the May '14 group. Drink lots of water, get lots of exercise, keep busy, load up on seeds, bubble gum, jolly ranchers, fake chew. Whatever. Just no nic!!!

Post messages on your Intro and talk to others. Read everything you can on this site. We have all been through what you are about to. Get digits from folks on this site and text or call. Use those digitis, they are your lifeline.

Again, post roll every morning. It is the price of admission to this club, and is a sacred responsiblity. PM me if you have any questions.

Now go get your quit on!
ZC
You're almost through the first day, which is your first yardstick after posting roll. Immerse yourself in the KTC community, read others' intro postings from their first few days, go for a walk, do some push-ups, go to bed early, whatever -- just establish that first day that you don't need the poison, and you'll have a frame of reference for the next day. Think how satisfying it will be knowing that you kept your word when you post roll tomorrow morning with "day 2". You can do this, and reach out to anyone in the May Group to help work through any roadblocks. You're not alone.
The first 3 days separates the pretenders from the real quitters. Wrap your head around this. If you've been 1 day without the poison then you can damn sure make it another. Don't need it, never did! 1000's have come before you, your no different, post roll and keep your word. Need a number let me know.
The quit Sherpas have arrived. Follow their advice and they will lead you to the top of the mountain.

Hey guys. I'm currently doing graduate work at Georgia Southern University. I graduated last year from LSU. I have promised my soon to be fiancee' that I would quit as she doesn't like it. All I can think about is putting in a pinch. I know deep down that I want to quit, but it is incredibly hard when it is all that's on my mind. I have only been dipping for a few years now.

The things we will do for woman huh?

All the best,

-B
It's nice and sweet that you think you are doing this for her.

You better realize you are doing this for you or you will fail.

Drink the kool-Aid, put on your hard hat, and try not to lick the windows.

You can do this!!!
What he said....^^^^^.....trust me, this is about you. You will not make it long-term if you are not doing this because you want to be free of your own addiction. KTC can support you in your efforts and the members here have all been through what you are doing for yourself! Check out the Welcome Center (top left) read up and promise yourself you have quit every day. One day at a time (ODAAT)! I quit with you, for me!

Joe,
First of all welcome to KTC. I am glad that you found us. You seem to have the drive to quit. The best thing you can do is want it and want it really bad. Remember to take things one day at a time, never ever focus on tomorrow or next week, fight hourly at first, then daily. As was pointed out already you need to quit for you, once you do that the rest of your life can bask in the glory of your quit.

Urges and cravings will come and go, rage may become a factor as well. You may notice that your body will change some good, some bad. Read up on that stuff here, those who have walked the trail before you can help guide you through things when you need it.

Now learn how to post roll How to Post Roll.

Then join your quit group Pre HOF May 2014, this will be the month at which you will hit your HOF or 100 days of quit, as long as you have the balls to quit.

Next read the HOM speeches and stories here, learn from the veterans. Look in the site for all kind of information like Spousal Support or What to Expect

Find an alternative to dip Smokeless Alternatives. Find other alternatives (candies, seeds, peanuts, beef jerky...). Also drink lots of water. Bump your intake so you have to stop at every urinal in order to not piss your pants.

Finally, get to know people, exchange phone numbers, make friends and quit.

P.S. All of the underlined words above are links to locations on this site.

Sincerely,
Pinched
"If you want to quit then stop talking and just QUIT. If you want to kill yourself a bullet is cheaper and faster than a tin, plus it eliminates my hearing you whine and cry like a bitch."
