Well, went home for lunch to retrieve my can of dip in the bathroom. The wife was standing there telling me about her morning at work. I grabbed the can, opened it up, then dumped it in the toilet. Bought a can of Bac-off and smoky wintergreen crap at the tobacco store. It did take the edge off. My bottom lip feels like a big marshmallow though. It's not really that big, Just feels weird.
Good job bro! That's the only way to quit. Click on the Welcome Center link at the top left hand side of the page and go post roll call with the Pre-HOF November 2013. Read, read and read some more. Check your PM.

Quit. Cold turkey. As the other guys have said, you already have a nice start!

Yes, it's going to hurt a bit, but that's the price we pay for freedom.

One caution: you forgot your can this morning, which means it's sitting there waiting for you when you get home. That will be a small test. Walk in, flush the remains of that can, and continue your quit. "One more for old times sake" is a lie that can will tell you. Don't listen! Don't romanticize your dipping days. Dipping is harmful and disgusting, remember that.

Get on this site as often as possible. Read all the info you can. Allow yourself to be brainwashed by this community. Enter our culture. All of it will help.

Your quit group is November 13, meaning in November you will be 100 days quit. Post roll there daily as a promise not to use nicotine that day. Keep that promise.

I'm pumped up to have you here. I quit with you today, this hour, this minute.

Been thinking about quitting for a while now. Started on a squirrel hunt when I was 14. I'm 38 now and haven't been without a dip for more than a handfull of days since I started. A Few in Basic Training and a few in Cuba when the PX ran out. I use a dip a bit over a can a day, and it's Red Seal so it's got a bit more. Been trying to cut back lately. Instead of having my first dip of the day while I'm getting ready for work, (Shit shower, shave), I've held off till after 9am. Well, I forgot my can this morning, and I didn't have that first dip. 11pm last night was the last. It's 12:06 now, so I'm at 13hrs since my last. Kinda freaking out just a bit. Thought it would be a good time to quit. Definitely going to need some help with this. Should I just quite cold turkey, or taper this off some more. Feeling kinda weird. Not bad, I'm not dying or anything. Just foggy, but  really focused. Hell I don't know.
Welcome!

Cold turkey is the only way to go and the only way that we support here at KTC! You are right it is hard. But thousands have done it here before us and so can you! You are at the right place! It only takes 72 hours for the Nicotine to leave your body and then the rest is all a mental game. Here we only commit to being quit for one day at a time. You can stay quit for one day right? Then tomorrow we repeat! Go to the welcome center and start reading the info in the threads there. It will tell you everything you need to know. Get your mind right because you will need to stay focused. Welcome to site and embrace the suck! It will get better!
Yep... you've already quit, and your body is flushing itself so the healing process can begin. Starting back again now would be completely insane. You're probably 14 hours or so into it now, that means you're already 20% of the way to a clean bloodstream. DO NOT throw that away.

Tapering down is a farse. It only prolongs the agony because you'll still feel withdrawal effects, but it'll just take longer. A badass quitter friend of mine on this site once posted one of the wisest statements I've ever heard. I keep it handy for times just like these. It goes like this:
Quote from: Scowick65
Whether nicotine dependency was established and/or maintained by being chewed, smoked, drank, snuffed, sprayed, swallowed, sucked, licked or patched, in the end there is only one way out - no nicotine today.
Get on over to your quit group and post roll. That's your promise that you won't use nicotine today. Then honor your word.

Let me know if I can help out.
