I found this site last night after searching around the internet about oral cancer.
I've been "on the can" since around '84 or so and used to smoke also, but I have not had a single drag for over 6 years... SLCWG was my fix of choice and my consumption has been around a can a day for the past 10 years or so. I said goodbye to my last half a can after my last lipful this morning at 6 AM as it swirled down the toilet. I remember when I quit smoking, the first 3 days were the hardest, but I felt a feeling of determination then, and I felt it again last night after looking at this website. It's time....ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Welcome to the site slug, and congrats on a great decision. This site isn't for trading one form of supplying our addiction for another, it is for quitting tobacco in all forms. Sign roll call each day and give yourself and us your word that you won't dip, smoke, or even hang out in the smoke shack on purpose for that day.
Your group is the September 08 quit group. That means you will hit the Hall of Fame (HOF) in September. All of those folks in that group are going through the same stages as you. Feel free to rant and rave as you see fit. Just keep that shit outta your lip.
You are absolutely correct that the next 3 days are going to be pretty tough, but it can be done. We are all living proof of it. You need to buckle down and make the commitment. One day, one hour, one minute at a time, whatever it takes.
