The mind games (fear, apprehension, self-doubt, anxiety, etc) are the hardest part. But like most anything, the attitude you have when you begin will largely determine the outcome. So turn those negative feelings into positives. Here's how you're going to do that...

YOU are in control now...not nicotine. Embrace quittting and EVERYTHING that goes with it. The shittiest head aches, the worst cravings...enjoy them!!! Actually turn the tables on the nic bitch! See those things for what they are...withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms are the feeling of your recovery. Your body is healing. You mind is re-programming itself to live without nicotine. Every passing moment nic free makes you stronger.

Try to see it this way...you GET to feel this crappy because you made a GREAT choice. Withdrawal symptoms are a privilege reserved to those who have the guts to live free. They are wonderful!!! Bring that shit on...it only makes us stronger!

Learn to laugh at the nic bitch's games. You've taken the first step, we're here for the rest. Look at the rolls...not just your own, but all of those quit groups. Pretty fucking cool, huh? All of those bad ass quitters GOT to go through what you are feeling now. It didn't kill them. In fact, there is not a one of them who regrets quitting. That's right...100% of quitters are happy they quit and wish they had done it sooner. They're living nic free one day at a time. AND YOU CAN TOO!!!

Fear, apprehension, anxiety, self-doubt...they are not only normal, they are welcomed. Why? Because those are the first steps of freedom. I'd be worried about you if you chose to do something as bad ass as saving your own life and you didn't have those thoughts. The stakes are high. But YOU'VE GOT THIS, Brother!!! You can do this!!!

I'm new. I've never been involved with groups or discussions. I've never been this serious about getting out from under my habit. So here we go. I've dipped snuff for 34 years. Like alot of people dad got me started don't want son or grandson stating. I'm a deputy sheriff, 17 + years and counting. I have to admit that I am scared. People with guns, no worries, knives, who cares but no snuff - I'm shaking. Strange! Thank you in advance for going with me, and I'm with you.
Scott,

Be scared. Be respectfull of your quit. That's a good thing. Once you're through the quickening in about 3 days, the physical addition decreases but the mental begins.

Hey brother your fear is understandable and in total honesty is nothing that has not been brought here before. I am 7 days quit and I did it one day right after the other. I got up and instead of caving I posted roll and promised I would not use today. Join us January Jackwagons proud to have you brother. It ain't easy but if I can do it you can too.

You should be scared. this won't be easy. But one of the best ways to overcome your fears is through the support and guidance of others who can empathize. you came to the right place. This network of quitters will provide you with everything you need. if you keep your word... if you have integrity ... if you are able admit that this is an ADDICTION and not a HABIT, well then you, sir, are in the right place. it's scary to change your life. but the rewards make it worthwhile...

post roll.
repeat.

Simple - not easy. you can do this. every journey starts with the first step.
The love you get here is conditional. The condition is that you are quit.

We are all in this together ScottG. Make sure you post roll everyday. That is your promise to not dip to all of your fellow quitters. It works.

We are quit with you every day, one day at a time. You got this.

Scott you can do this and the freedom is such a wonderful thing. I've been a 38 - 40 yr addict and fully understand your fear, but what SM said is right anyone can quit for a day. That's all you have to do, just quit today and repeat it tommorrow. 187 days ago I was new to this type of forum also, I can promise you if you will be active and get to know people the brotherhood will amaze you and you will soon be proud to be a quitter with this bunch of very honorable addicts!! Pm me if I can offer any help.

Nothing to fear here, the waters fine. Read everything you can on this site. It'll help. All you gotta do is ride it out one day at a time. Any idiot can quit for a day, and that's all you gotta do. We can worry about tomorrow , tomorrow. Today your quit

You got this
"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."
