This thread is the strangest thread ever. Dude is 6 months quit on his own, makes an intro, and never posts roll. What's the story Meatsteak?
Guess he was just joking around
I get that feeling as well.

Yes I have been chew free since January 28th and its still sucks, lol. That's why I stumbled upon this place. I was having a bad day and wanted a chew and started googling for something that might help me cope better.
You're at the right place. IF you follow the program (e.g. drink the Koolaid) you will be able to quit and remain quit.

Post roll to your quit group. Make the promise EACH day, EARLY in the day, to not use any NIC for that day. Keep that word. (I don't know how this works with someone who quit so long ago because most of the "instilling" of quit behavior occurs in the pre-HOF days, Vets help me out here)

We fucked up. We are addicted to nic. It will always suck dude. There is no cure, no magic day when the suck will go away. But since you've been quit for 6 months or so, you already know that it has gotten easier and easier to get through it, right?

There is no cure for our addiction. We just had a dude cave after 500+ days of being quit. This is what I mean, no cure.. Stay involved here and post roll This will all serve as a daily reminder of what you need to do protect your quit.

Since you are already a quit vet-of-sorts you've already made it thru the roughest part. Find a way to get involved here. Perhaps helping others by connecting to them in their intro posts. Exchanging tel numbers so you can reach out when you're struggling with a crave and allowing others to do the same to you. There are a LOT of Marines and other service folks who you can relate to on KTC that you can exchange numbers with.

Posting roll should bring you here every day. Have you posted today? If not, go do it. Introduce your self to that group. MAY 2014 HOF group.

Chew free, smoke free, patch free, nic gum free as well? If so, post roll in the May 2014 HoF group. Sorry if the reactions are slow, most new people aren't 165 days into their quit. Gratz on getting this far on your own. Make some friends and help the new folks.

Hey everyone,

I started dipping 17 years ago at the age of 20. I was a young Marine who smoked and needed an alternative when we were out in the field. Once I took my first dip it was over for me. I fucking loved it. I didn't even want to smoke anymore. I only smoked when I drank cuz it was easier for me. I chewed a good 9-10 years before I thought about seriously trying to quit. EveRy time I did it was a half hearted effort and I rarely made it 2-3 days before I was packing another fatty. Things started to change for me when I met my wife and she hated it. She begged me to stop but I just couldn't do it no matter how bad I wanted to. I even made a deal with her that I wouldn't chew around her but that just made me a resentful asshole to her to the point she begged me to start dipping again. Ha ha looks like I won right? Well I continued to dip whenever I wanted, for me that it pretty much around the clock. Then we started having kids and I tried a few half hearted attemts.
Thx for your comments so far. If you don't want to know my story do t read my fucking introduction. That is what this is after all right? My introduction? So I'm being as thorough as possible. I'll continue with my love story now.

I'll really wanted to quit by now because now I'm starting to see the health ramifications the dipping has been doing to me. I could not dip with my lower lip anymore so the last couple of years I went top lip. That scared the crap out of me but still not enough to make me quit. So after failed attempt after failed attemt to quit I had an epiphany. I realized I was an addict and there was no "just one" or I'll just do it when I'm doing this or I won't do it at work rationalizing with myself. I had to just stop and suck it up and realize if I wanted to live I need to stop chewing. On January 28 of this year I stopped. Was the hardest thing I've ever done and I'm still having a hard time. That's how I stumbled upon this site and realized I wasn't the only person who feels like me.

Thx for listening and this site was just what I needed
Sooooo, just for clarity, you have not used nicotine since January 28th?

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

Um... Ok.

None of us really need a serial explanation.

Are you quit or not?
If you are... great! Welcome in and follow the plan... That's how it works.
If not... Take your "love story" somewhere else.
Matt - welcome and thanks for your service. As you can see it's tough love around here, but know this. We have all been through exactly what you are going through and we are all quit.

It looks like you have been quit since Jan 2014 - that is awesome especially going it alone. I dipped for 22 years and I couldn't even begin to count the times my wife begged me to quit or I promised her I would quit. We are nicotine addicts and no matter how much we "want" to quit for someone else it doesn't work and as you saw you end up resenting them.

Quit for you.

Here we make the decision to quit each and every day by posting roll and promising we aren't going to use nicotine in any form that day. Then we wake up and repeat.

Check the welcome center and read everything you can.
